Vehicle Detail
Rare 1978 Ford F-350 Camper Special from Arizona in it's original condition. The truck was purchased new by my ex father-in-law in Southern California and he used it on his ranch in Arizona until his passing. The odometer shows less than 74,000 miles and I believe these to be original as he never went very far from "home" and used it as a ranch truck. Title shows mileage when it was placed in my name but as a box "C" title which in AZ means "not actual mileage" as he was not there to verify that it was actual mileage. The truck has the 460 engine and C6 automatic transmission which to my knowledge have never been taken apart and rebuilt and it runs/shifts extremely well and quietly. It has the orginal Motorcraft carburator and even the original emissions canisters as it was manufactured and sold in Southern California. Even the air cleaner is original as this truck has not been modified at all other than I added the radiator overflow container. It has factory/dealer installed AC but there has not been a belt on the compressor pulley as my father-in-law took it off since it was his ranch truck and I never put one on either is my years of ownership. Compressor turns freely but I can't verify it's operation. C6 automatic transmission shifts very well and the truck drives down the road straight and stops well considering the weight of it and the fact that it has drum brakes. These trucks are rare as they have a 140 inch wheelbase versus the stock 133 inch so that they could accomodate in-bed campers up to 12 feet in length. Ford stopped calling these "Super Camper Specials" to avoid the confusion with super cabs and all were 2 wheel drive. Very unusual in bed spare tire storage which accounts for the unusual length and shape of the passenger side wheel well. I had the seat re-upholstered in the original pattern as just the driver's side was worn due to constant sliding in and out of the truck and cracking of the upper portion of the backrest from the harsh Arizona sun. Dash is cracked from the sun and I had the headliner re-done as well as it had shrunk from the heat. Replaced the original rubber matt as it was worn on the driver's side only as well due to repeated ingress and egress. Other than that the interior panels, steering wheel, dash, etc...are in original, though not perfect, condition. The truck has the following options: Sliding rear window, cruise control, AC, hood lock, the original am/fm radio, driver's side floor vent, front bumper guards, two-tone paint, "super single" rear wheels, dual gas tanks. Tires have maybe 4000 miles on them and the rears are called "super singles". They are much taller and wider than stock in order to accomodate the extra weight of a camper and not have dually wheels/tires. The front wheels are original to the truck but the rears are not but are the correct size (16.5 inch). Original paint is faded in most places as you can see and it barely has any surface rust as this truck has spent its entire life in dry Arizona. Undercarriage and floors are mostly rust free as well (passenger side has some rust/pin holes probably due to a leaky heater core in the past). I have used this truck the last few years for home depot runs and to tow my boat to the lake. It runs very well, does not overheat and loaded or unloaded gets horrible gas mileage. I wouldn't hesiate to drive it anywhere even in the forecasted 110 degree weather expected this week. The truck is in very nice, original, un-restored condition (they're only original once) and I think very presentable as is. The power steering pump leaks a bit but I just add fluid when needed and the passenger side valve cover gasket leaks a tad as well. The truck is sold as is with no warranty of any kind. With that said it is recommended that you look at it prior to purchase if you wish. Please contact me via the message link or at six zero two three one seven seven seven nine seven if you have any questions, would like additional pictures or would like to see it. The truck is located in North Phoenix (85086). The reserve is set extremely low as this truck is for sale. Your bid is to purchase the vehicle, not to hold it for viewing so please make sure you have the funds and ask whomever you need to for permission to purchase. I can hold the vehicle for a while until you have made shipping arrangements. If you have a zero feedback I will contact you via e-mail to confirm your interest. If I don't hear back from you within 12 hours your bid will be cancelled. Please don't let the fairly new account worry you as my previous account (pre divorce) had a 100% positive feedback rating on 168 transactions and I purchased and sold Porshes, Harleys, etc via ebay. A $500 deposit via paypal is due within 24-hours of end of auction with the full balance due within 7 days of end of auction. Truck will not leave my possession until it has been paid in full in cash, wire transfer, or verifiable cashier's check. The AZ title is clear and clean and in my name ready to be transferred to the new owner. Buyer is responsible for shipping.
