Vehicle Detail
Here is a little background (according to the experts) about the Morris Minors followed by a few particulars of my 1971 Morris 1000 Delux Traveller (woody). According to NADA my price represents a 15% discount from the average retail for an above average car. At the end of this description I have (3) short videos of the car starting, driving, and a walk around. This car ALSO COMES WITH A COMPLETE/GOOD SPARE ENGINE/TRANS (SEE PICS). The following paragraphs were gleaned from various expert opinions and reviews: "The Morris Minor made its debut way back in 1948, yet there’s no sign of its appeal diminishing. If anything, its popularity grows ever stronger. A combination of practicality, charm, usability and affordability all conspire to ensure the Minor is near the top of many classic buyers’ wish lists – throw in superb club and specialist support, and it’s easy to see the Minor’s enduring appeal. Whether you’re a long-standing classic owner or you’re looking for your first golden oldie, few cars fit the bill better than a Minor Traveller. Full of charm, universally recognized and admired, plus easy to upgrade for everyday use, this is one of the most practical cars ever created. For a bit of fun and usable cruising around, then the Minor Traveller is almost unbeatable. Morris Minor fans have known for decades; that this utterly orthodox car still makes a superb classic runabout that’s as pleasing to use as it is practical. What’s more, they are super easy to run and maintain and become more than just transport but a part of the family. The best news about Minors is how many were built. There were 74,960 convertibles between 1948-1969, 215,328 Travellers between 1953-71 and an amazing 1 million sedans, with a few box vans and pickups. About 350 “One millionth” sedans were made, in a lilac color. The most desirable (and practical) Minor is the 1000 Traveller. Mint examples will set you back around $20k easily and truly concourse ones (or a Charles Ware special) often sell for another $10k easily. Between $16k and $20k appears to be the typical outlay for a decent and presentable runner that’s not a liability. There’s a veritable cottage industry in Morris Minor specialists and this includes companies which can make you a ‘new’ one to your spec. Charles Ware (Bath U.K.) is perhaps the best known for this, the breadth of improvements and bespoke builds are amazing – you really can make a Morris Minor to suit you! Charles Ware’s Morris Minor Centre says Morris 1000s make great daily drivers , and adds, around 70 per cent are used as second cars. It recommends a post ’63 model (proper key start, improved heater). Most folk go for the versatile Traveller, with the convertible the next popular pick due to its style plus the fact that it’s a compact four seater rag top. Prices only rise steadily so they can’t drop as a consequence and make good daily drivers, although many who own one aren’t necessarily enthusiasts either. Verdict: Travellers are more than merely cars, they become part of the family so be warned – one will quickly worm its way into your heart and household. They are so practical and pragmatic and yet always fun too, that, with suitable upgrades, turns one into a viable urban daily driver. Easy to own and maintain with fantastic specialist and club support. However, despite a cult following, the Minor remains eminently affordable – if you’re already tempted, there really is no good reason to put off buying one." Stats for my Traveller: 1971 Morris Minor Traveller Delux (last year made) RHD - 4 cyl. 1098cc - 4spd - 15k miles- In 2015 I purchased the car. It runs and looks great, it is in very nice condition. It constantly attracts a lot of attention and comments- Very striking automobile- During the good months I use it as a driver to run errands and go to shows- it is stored in a heated garage during the winter- I purchased this car to use and have fun - I often show it as a "London Taxi" with a lighted taxi meter, rear luggage rack, period luggage or leather trunk, magnetic door signs, and magnetic lighted taxi roof signage (everything is either magnetic or hidden thumb screws so there is no damage), authentic period taxi (hack) license, hat, pins, and union buttons etc.- This is a very unique and attractive car, that truthfully deserves all the attention it gets- it even had a short article/picture in Hemmings last year.
