Vehicle Detail
Early 1969 bay window pop top Westfalia camper! This is a reliable daily driver that has also taken trips out of state after receiving a full mechanical overhaul. If you are looking for a ready to go, mechanically solid camper with a good body, this is it! The following has been done to the bus in the last few thousand miles, all within less than a year using the best quality parts available from Wolfsburg West, CB Performance, Bughaus, etc. I built this bus for me to camp and road trip: no corners were cut. Engine is an 1835 thick-wall with the following, all NEW: -Autolinea HD aluminum block -Scat 69mm 4340 nitride crank, balanced -DPR rods balanced end to end -AA thick-wall 92mm P&C's, balanced -Heavy weight harmonic eliminator crank pulley, balanced -OEM VW flywheel drilled 8 dowel, balanced, chromoly gland nut -Sachs clutch, German throw out bearing, Exedy pressure plate -Kolbenschmidt main, rod, and cam bearings, STD -CB bus torque camshaft -CB chromoly push rods -CB 1.25:1 ratio rockers -CB chromoly head studs -044 heads -CB filter/oil pump -CB single Spanish Weber 40 IDF kit -CB billet breather kit -Pertronix distributor, electronic ignition, wires -Bosch blue coil -Bosch regulator, generator (new not rebuilt) -WW engine mounts -US made rotary ball bearing fuel pump, fuel lines Elecrical: -all gone through front to back, top to bottom minus interior overhead lighting (lights included) -US/Japan made gear reduction IMI Hi Torque starter -New battery cables -Yellow Top Optima battery -WW headlight switch -New front turn signal lenses, tail lights/housings (LED), all bulbs replaced -WW ignition switch Transmission: -shifts great -total re-seal all input/output, nose cone bushings, etc -HD US made shift coupler -German axle boots, fresh grease on CVs, WW suspension bushings -German clutch cable, bowden tube Body: -New US made pop top seals, hold down clamps, rear hatch seal, pop top functioning perfectly -General grabber tires -Italian tie rods, drag link -German wheel bearings front/rear -Functioning e-brake -German master, WW fill reservoir, Brazilian wheel cylinders, Italian rubber lines -WW front floor mat, visors, side mirrors, rear view mirror -WW heater hose engine to body -WW engine lid seal, deck lid hinges -KYB gas adjust shocks front/rear -Wiper blades -Original key for all exterior locks -Overall super solid, never welded, never wrecked, straight body -Great base for a restoration, or drive as is -One thinning repaint over original with strong potential to strip down to nice, original white paint... although the 80's root beer brown/champagne still looks good! -Interior paint is all original and in excellent shape -Interior cabinets in good shape, missing the ice box -Filler only in a couple small spots, otherwise straight, original panels all around: lower front door corners, rear passenger corner beside tail light (small dent not rust) -Very little rust in the common spots: driver rocker, lower dogleg corners, front floors, front splash above jack points, passenger battery tray -Belly pans and underside are all rock solid 'Needs': -Pop top canvas -Spare tire mounted (have 2 x wheels and new Grabber spare) -Original interior panels, seat covers are in various states of 'need replaced' -Rear main seal weeps a tiny bit, but they usually do -Interior slider handle is chipped Why is this list so short? Because this bus doesn't really 'need' anything... it is ready to hit the road!
