I had always wanted an E38 BMW and it’s been fun owning this one, but I have 8 cars so something needs to go. I’m a certified mechanic and have done a lot of maintenance and repairs in the last year or so. I’ve replaced the valley pan which is a common problem on these that causes coolant to leak. Also replaced valve cover gaskets and blasted and repainted valve covers with high temp paint. I replaced the engine belts, tensioners and idler pulleys, power steering hose, rear brakes. Another problem on these is the instrument cluster pixels stop working, I just repaired that and it now looks new. New battery, repaired door switch, fixed all interior bulbs. It starts, runs and drives beautifully. Very smooth and powerful. Ready to drive daily and enjoy. AC is cold, everything works as it should on automatic climate control. Has sun shades on rear passenger windows including power sunshade on rear glass. It originally had the 16” BBS wheels, but I bought a whole set (5) of the 18” split 5 spoke offset BMW wheels, had them professionally refurbished and mounted new tires which have less than 500 miles on them. Center caps are OEM BMW, they look amazing. I spent $2000 for the wheels and tires including refurbish. Car has flaws as you would expect for a 2001 but nothing major. The windshield has a crack but it’s behind the rear view mirror so it’s not obstructing your view. I tried to fix the glove box handle but it still needs some adjustment, another common problem for these. The airbag light is on, I bought the scanner to reset but got an error message and haven’t really looked into it. Scanner comes with the car. Let me know if you have any questions.
