Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1986 BMW 4-door. Had it since 2008, been in the family its whole life. I just never drive it now so it's time to sell. Comes with nearly complete records, starting from the original 1986 receipt. I took the car to my mechanic for what they call a 'Major Check' in anticipation of selling, and he said it's a good car that drives well, without any major internal problems he could find. However, it does have some issues: -A/C does not blow cool air-Instrument panel (especially speedometer) is intermittent. It happened to be working for the major check, but I'd say it's off about half the time. -The paint is peeling a bit around the sunroof, and there's a chip in the paint on the same roof panel about the diameter of an M&M. I've kept the car parked in my carport so water doesn't exacerbate the issue.-There's a small hole (again, about M&M-sized) rusted out below the spare tire well.-Driver's side door lock broken -- to lock/unlock the car from the outside, one must use the front passenger doorlock or the lock on the trunk.-The sensor panel in the cabin is unreliable.-Dash and front seats are cracking.-The back left exterior door handle is broken. Still opens, but proper handle not attached.-Some rust in front passenger door frame.-Driver's side power windows do not roll down. Other than that, I've always been happy with the car. Just never gets driven now. Purchaser must pick up vehicle or arrange shipping. EDIT Please note that, in response to a buyer's question, I have found two ~1/4"x2" holes rusted through the frame, one below each of the left-side cabin doors.
