If you are looking to get into a luxury convertible for little money look at this classic English beauty. A 1999 Jaguar XK8 in Sapphire Metallic with a blue cloth top and cream colored leather interior. It features a 4.0 litre dual overhead cam aluminum engine that produces just short of 300 horsepower capable of pushing the car to an electronically limited 155 mph. This car has been pampered over the 18 years which should be obvious by the pictures provided. The burl walnut wood dash is just as fresh as the day it was new. The engine bay is very clean. The zero rust exterior has a few small rock chips and very small dents which are expected in an 18 year old car. The dual leather, heated and power adjustable seats have signs of normal use but still in fantastic shape. Everything functions as intended even the climate control which still blows very cold AC. If you know these first generation XK8 models, they are known for defective cam chain tensioners. If the chain tensioners fail, the engine/car is essentially a total loss. This engine has recently had the cam chain tensioners replaced as well as the cam chains, cam chain guides, radiator hoses, water pump, thermostat, coolant and drive belt. Another gremlin of these cars is called the “green shower” in which the hydraulic hoses that operate the convertible top fail above the rear view mirror causing a shower of green hydraulic fluid. No worries with this car. The lines have been replaced with 7600 psi rated hydraulic hoses. The car also features a new battery and newer tires (less than 7000 miles). This car was $80,000 when new and yet even after 18 years, it still gets looks like today’s $80,000 cars.
