Vehicle Detail
For sale rare 1970 Penton ISDT 125. This is a non-running bike project for restoration. This Penton was purchased by my cousin new in 1970. I took it for a ride the day he brought it home. We did trail riding together in the early 70's. It was never raced or abused. We both quit riding after a year or two and he stuck the bike in a shed where it remained until the early 90's. I asked him if he still had it and I bought it from him then, planning on a restoration. I seem to never have time to get going on it so I am offering it for sale to someone who can bring it back to life and appreciate it. The bike is pretty much all original. It has the original tires, Trelleborg on the rear and 21 in. Metzler on the front, Ceriani forks, Magura controls, and Girling shocks. These bikes were state of the art back in the day. They were built in Ohio by the Pentons who competed in the ISDT. Unlike the Japanese dirt bikes from this era, not a lot of these bikes were produced. This is one of the earlier models with the steel tank before they went to fiberglass. The bike is not running but kicks over with compression. The tranny shifts up and down through the gears. I do have the original chain but I took it off so the bike would roll easier. My cousin added the tool box on the upper triple clamp. (I think it is from a 60's Honda). You may notice the black stains on parts of the bike. I kept it in my garage all the time I owned it. Unfortunately it was there when my T-160 Trident smouldered and burned. The Penton had no fire or water damage but everything in the garage was black from smoke. If anyone has ever dealt with that you know that the black is difficult to remove. Degreaser, a brush, and elbow grease work best. Some parts may need repainting or replating but the Penton needed some of that before the fire. I have tried to show the condition of the bike as well as I can in photos and description. Please look it over carefully before you bid. It is sold as-is where is. The buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping.Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. I have a clear Michigan "A" (one owner) title in hand. NO RESERVE. I am hoping someone out there can appreciate the history and rarity of this machine. Thanks for looking. Dave.
