Vehicle Detail

I am selling my beautiful Matador wagon. This is a very rare car with only 2514 produced out of a total production of 349,120. Less than 8% of all Dodges built in 1960 were Matadors and just .07% were 6 pass wagons like this car is. In 1960 Dodge really sold 2 distinct lines, the upper series, which this is one of and the lower, or Dart series. Total Dart sales for 1960 was greater than total full sized Plymouth sales with 262,257 made. The Matador series was only sold in 1960. This is such a rare, unique car! Now a little about the car's history. In 1962 the first owner traded in this car to the local Dodge dealership in a small rural southern Utah town. The second owner, a local mechanic, who owned the only gas station in an even smaller town about 10 miles away purchased it for his growing family. He had been driving a green 1959 Plymouth Belvedere 4 door sedan, and this was a real step up! He drove it as his personal car until 1971 when he parked it in his back yard next to the 1959 Plymouth. One of the photos shows the original inspection sticker dating from 1971 still on the windshield. At some point, he removed the power windows from the front doors, but left them intact in the rear doors. I gathered up the proper motors and reinstalled them so the front doors now have the proper functional power windows. I found the car in about 1980 and was finally able to purchase this one of a kind Mopar in 2012 after many years of following up with him. I changed fluids, and replaced the fuel pump and it fired right up! After plugs, points and a carb rebuild, it was running smooth as silk. Then I tackled the brakes and replaced the master cylinder and rebuilt the brake cylinders as needed. Next came the interior which was reupholstered in the original pattern. There was rust in the right rear quarter and I was finally able to purchase a replacement quarter panel from a massive collection of mopar's in Colton California. A quick paint job, some NOS bias belted tires and she was complete enough to drive. Then I repaired the unobtainium cardboard headliner and tackled bunches of little things, The car is such an original car, with it's original drive train. It has not been messed with and with a new replacement windshield installed, it will be ready to enjoy. There is some pot metal on this car. It is all in very great condition, but does have a few pits in some of the pieces. Other pieces are pit free. Please note the beautiful long tubular taillight housings. They are so impressive with the fins rising above . I removed the gas tank and cleaned it out. I found absolutely no rust through on the passenger floors or the areas around the gas tank area. The car came from Southern Utah where the weather is super mild. There are several things the car needs that I am aware of. They are as follows, replacement of the windshield with a replacement one that comes with the car, installing the antenna, and repairing the tail gate glass. It has significant scratching. Also the second seat power windows do not work. I checked one side and the power motor was stuck. All electrical etc is there and connected. Also the pass rear door opens from the inside only. All other doors work from outside as well as inside. I need to make sure that you understand that this car is not a show car, nor has it been completely restored. It is a car that can be enjoyed, and improved over time. I have added some NOS pieces like the tailgate handle, and replacing the D O D G E letters on the hood. They were missing when I got the car. The car is sold where is and as is without any warranty expressed or implied. I encourage you to ask me questions. I want a smooth sale, and not a dissappointed purchaser, who expected a 100 point restoration. Please ask questions. I have sold several other cars and parts over the years. I am proud of my 100% positive feed back and want you to love this car too. I just noticed that there is a hubcap missing in the pictures. It will be included. Also the handbrake needs adjustment. That's why there are rocks under the tires. Also, the data tag picture, and several other pictures aroundit are oldand do not show the current condition of the car. I wanted the buyer to know everything about this car including the rust repair. The balance is due within 1 week and is payable via bank wire transfer, or cash. Car is to be picked up within 2 weeks unless other arrangements have been made. Car is located in Bountiful, UT, a Salt Lake City suburb. Shipping is at the expense of the buyer, but the seller is more than willing to help load, etc.On Nov-01-17 at 07:59:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Please keep in mind that this car includes the rare swivel seat, which would cost in excess of $1000, if purchased separately, as well as the ultra rare rear quarter washboard stainless. The stainless is highly sought after, and rarely found. This trim is worth at least $1000 as well. Plus it has the power windows, the cool chrome hand holds on the rear of the roof, and the spinner hubcaps. These rare options make the car so much more valuable and pretty, than a standard Matador would be worth. Please keep this in mind when bidding. Thank you for so much interest in my car! Scott
