1968 Numbers Matching 442Forget the clone wars and go with the Original Legend! There is a reason that people make Clones- they are trying to copy a very rare automobile, because there were only 3500 or so of these produced in 1968 so the chance of finding a real one in this good of condition is extremely rarePeople know the difference, and at car shows they glance at the VIN... Looking for that 34467 prefix. when you have that- you get a thumbs up from anyone who knows anything about great muscle cars. I have owned this car for 22 years- I bought it from 2nd ownerOverall good shape as the pictures show. You could take it to a car show in its current condition, or use it as a beginning of a numbers matching dream car project. If you know Oldsmobiles, this is a Lansing built 34467 442 it is a 400 CID olds with a THM 400 transmissionPower steering, power brakes power top Crank windowsBe aware that you are buying the car from a true Oldsmobilac and having owned this car for so long, I can answer pretty much anything about the car.- Ask questions via the ebay app and I will reply ASAP!this car has been painted, the original color was Provincial white- but a lot of bad things happened in the 80's including someone painting this car red its been since put back to its original color but there are signs of the red if you look carefully. The power top works there are no ripsThere are a few rips in the upholstery seen in the pictures- just from getting brittle over 50 years, small leak from the transmission output shaft Notable notesCar does not have AC, does not have tic tach tocCar Does have original lockheed 4 piston power disc brakes- which was a more expensive option in 1968 than the above mentioned 2 combined Car is basically rust free but there are a few repairs (again the 80's) and I can send as many pictures as you would like of underneath, engine, trunk whatever you want to see You are bidding on a 49 year old car- Id say that its old, but its the same year as my wife- so it cant be old. But with anything this age you must be aware of what you are buying. Car is in driving condition and if you are in Michigan or neighboring states you could drive it home Further than that you would want to arrange transport. I STRONGLY recommend that you inspect the car in person or send an appraiser so that you know what you are getting. this is an awesome car, but its a 1968 and drips, dings, and things happen- i just keep a tray under it in the garage.Speaking of that- this car is stored in a temperature controlled air conditioned garage. 68 in winter and 75 in summer never humid or hot or coldnever winter driven at least not in the last 22 yearsPlease contact me via the Ebay app to arrange a inspection. LastlySerious bidders only please, this isn't my first car sale on Ebay, I am a 100% satisfaction rated seller and I want to keep it that way, that means that you need to be happy in the end with what you bought, and I need to be happy selling it to you. We can do cashiers check from a national bank, or a wire transfer, in either case neither the title nor the vehicle will not leave my possession until funds are cleared. I put a reasonable 500 dollar immediate deposit required just be sure that you want the car before you bid on it.The car has a clean green Michigan title ready for a new home. Thanks- Happy bidding On Jul-26-17 at 05:17:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 7/26 added a picture of the body trim tag On Jul-28-17 at 12:54:33 PDT, seller added the following information: 7/28/2017Ok the reserve got met early this morning. I have been communicating via telephone text and ebay messaging with many of you bidders and its becoming a little overwhelming keeping up with all the questions.so just so that we are all on the same page, and now that the reserve is met it is a little more serious of a discussionhere is all of the questions answered and all of the pictures that have been requestedQ:How many 442s were produced? you said 3500 that's vague.A:there were 33,607 1968 442s made and of those 5,142 were convertibles. from those 5142 the chance of finding a real one today is quite rare. Q:is this a "zero rust car" A: No this is a 49 year old car- there is a very small amount of rust. i have attached pictures of all know rust. Q: you said that the original color was provincial white. is that correct.A: No, a fellow ebayer that knows more about paint codes has corrected me. According to the VIN and body tag, the original color is Willow Gold Q:The ODO shows 25347 do you think that it is actually 125347?A: Well I dont know for sure either way. When I bought the car it had ~22000 miles so over the last 22 years I can attest to the fact i have put the 3000 miles. When I got the car it still has bias ply tires on it but I could tell that they were not the originals there is no evidence from service records that I am aware of to either prove or disprove the mileage. please come inspect the car and make your own conclusion. Is the jack and spare tire thereYes- everything is there. the spare is flat- more for show Have you ever entered it in car show, how does it do?Yes- considering that its a numbers matching car many people are willing to look past some cosmetic flaws. is it better to have the original seatcover with a tear, or a year one reproduction part? anyone's guess- I typically don't win, and in the time that I have owned the car i have only won one car show with it. that was a smaller local show and there were a bunch of mutalated mustangs and corvettes there- i think i got the purists vote because mine was the only original car there. What about the tires in the pictures? I replaced the bias ply with RWL Eagle ST circa 1992. so those are also 22 year old tires- plenty of tread, and no cracks- but 22 years old. That is all the questions that I have been asked. If possible please stick to the Ebay app for questions so that i can share the answers with everyoneThanksC
