I purchased this 1981 GS1000GX shaft drive from the dealer new (floor demo machine) in 1981. Due to work I was mostly out of the US from 1993-2013. For those 20 years the bike was in storage. In 2014/2015 I gave the bike to a motorcycle shop to bring it back into service properly. The gas tank was cleaned of rust, carburetor was rebuilt, spark plugs and spark plug caps replaced, front forks resealed and other normal service performed. The bike has run like new since then, although I have not put on more than 300 miles in the past 2 years (hence I am selling). There is some rust on the exhaust and odd bolts (in pictures). Also there are small scratches to the paint (I repainted it black from original maroon in 1982). I also repaired a pin hole leak in the gas tank with solder in Spring 2015 that developed after the very thorough tank prep by the mechanic. I have Eclipse soft saddle bags and a (not Eclipse) tank bag that can come with the bike if you want them (in pictures). This has been a very good bike to me and I hope to find someone who can give it the use I am no longer in a position to provide.On Jun-29-17 at 09:34:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Also replaced both tires and valve stems in June 2014.
