This CJ5 has been my Summer weekend convertible in Northern Wisconsin for more than 30 years. However, if you know anything about N. Wisconsin, you know we get very few sunny days when you can use a convertible. Hence the low mileage. Unfortunately, I am now at an age where I can't get in & out of the Jeep safely. Before buying this CJ, I had a 1975 8 cylinder CJ5. Unfortunately, the 8 cylinder was too much power & too heavy for a CJ. Thus, I switched to the 6 cylinder which is better balanced for a CJ. Happily, in 1979, Jeep was selling the special edition Levi Straus CJ5 with power steering (note the buttons on the seats) and I was able to buy this before the extra bells & whistles were discontinued after the 1979 model year. No $$ has been spared in maintaining this Jeep in as close to original condition (with a few touch-ups) as possible. Up-grades in the last few years are new tires, new shocks, new brakes, new brake lines, new fuel pump & battery. If you compare my Jeep with other CJ5's, you will be hard pressed to find an original in anything close to this condition. I am selling my Jeep as is and reserve the right to withdraw it from the auction before the auction concludes.On Jun-26-17 at 11:36:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Some additional information-I have been told by a collector that the Levi licensing agreement expired in 1978, and that the 1979 edition is a Levi Style, but not officially a levi edition. This conflicts with Wikipedia, but may be true. Also, there was rust in the drivers floor pan which I cut out ( around 6 inches) many years ago and replaced with a steel plate No issue since then.
