Roush P51A Mustang In 2008, Roush departed from its usual practice of adding supercharging to an existing engine and rolled out the Roush Performance P-51A Mustang. The highest-horsepower Mustang produced by the company to that point, the P-51A marked the first time technicians in their Livonia, Michigan, facility made upgrades to internal engine components. Modifications to Ford’s 4.6L SOHC three-valve engine included a forged-steel eight-bolt crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons with increased dish to lower the compression from 9:8 to 8:6, and forged-steel H-Beam connecting rods. The upgrades were necessary to enable the engine to manage the extra horses generated by the supercharging system that was newly revised for 2008. The result was 510 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque, necessitating the suspension and braking upgrades engineered to maximize handling as part of the P-51A package. Number 56 of 151 produced, this 2008 Roush P-51A is well sorted and driven 26,400 miles. Equipped with the ROUSHcharger kit, 6-speed transmission, power steering and four-wheel disc brakes, forged Roush five-spoke wheels with G-Force T/A radials and a Roush aero body kit, this P51A is ready for the road! For those who look behind the 18-inch ROUSH forged five-spoke wheels will see the vaunted Stage 3 suspension underneath this vehicle. Designed to handle even the tightest twists and turns, this suspension includes specially-engineered and tuned front struts, rear shocks, front and rear springs, front and rear sway bars and jounce bumpers. The front brakes are also upgraded with 14-inch front two-piece rotors and four-piston calipers. Each component was specifically engineered so that ride comfort was not compromised at the expense of the tremendous gains in performance.
