Vehicle Detail
I have a nice 1996 Saab 900 that I've owned for about 3 years. It is now at 145,046 miles. Over the years I've put about $3000 into the car. Also the previous owner maintained it quite well and I even have a copy of the original listing when I purchased it (here on ebay motors - the listing details what has been worked on in the car since 124,000 miles to 136,000 miles when I purchased it). Over the years it's had a new windshield, always synthetic oil changes, etc. My plan was to fix it up and keep it running for awhile. However it's been sitting in my driveway since I've been assigned overseas for the past year so it has to go. I'd keep it but I don't need a car unfortunately now. I have no time to maintain it (or even drive it sadly). My last major service was done at 136,000 miles at Mecca Motors in Allston, MA. I had tires changed, serpentine belt and pulleys, brakes serviced (and rear brake rotors and pads changed). This service cost me over $2500 alone. The only problem is that I haven't moved it much over the past year. I swapped out a battery after getting back home this time and car fired up with no problems. The brakes are a bit sticky after sitting for awhile so it'll likely have to get the brakes serviced. While you probably could drive it home I would recommend towing and/or getting a mechanic to looking at it for a long trip. I haven't examined the car thoroughly so take it with a grain of salt that you're getting a car that has not really been driven for the last year. I'd highly recommend one get it looked over and serviced before any long trips. Unfortunately I really don't have the time to look over the car besides a perfunctory look over so please bear this in mind. Spare DI cassette included in the trunk. A/C needs a recharge as well I believe. Also the antenna is not working for the radio (I use a cassette auxiliary jack for a music player that I connected to instead of using the radio which I'll include). There's a tear in the driver's seat but it's nothing serious and can be stitched up again (or have a mat put on it if you don't feel like stitching). There's very little visible rust I can see in the undercarriage. Even at "rough" condition, edmunds puts the value of the car at $800 private party. Average puts it at $1000 so I'll put the buy it now at $1,000. Not looking for a major profit here, just need to clear the driveway and not pay anymore vehicle tax for it sitting here. So you'll get a great deal I'd imagine if it goes for under this. I can get $300 for the car right now with just a phone call and no hassle so I'm setting the no reserve bid start low, at $399. Saabs are nice cars and can last a very long time if taken care of. If taken care of properly I have no doubt the car will go to 200,000 miles and more.
