Vehicle Detail

I will not school you on the excellent ride and reputation of the 911SC. These air cooled Porsches are climbing in value and are sought by discerning collectors. Excellent investments! I introduce this vehicle as an original issue free excellent example of a Porsche 911 SC (Super Carrera). The previous owner purchased it from an airline pilot on May 10, 1994. He had the intention to prepare the vehicle for racing and therefore took the engine out for an extensive upgrade for the racing circuit. The purchaser owns over a dozen Porsches from a racing version of the 356 to recently modified Caymans. The vehicle was kept in his heated very large garage where he kept his collection. He never did any additional work to the car and it remained in its original state and unused for the last 23 years. I purchased it 2 years ago with the intention of refurbishing the engine while it was out of the vehicle. This was a hobby and not my first venture; since all the mechanical parts were exposed, I went one step further and with the assistance of a veteran Porsche mechanic had the motor dismantled completely and rebuilt. Once dismantled, we realized that the engine had negligible wear. Nevertheless we rebuilt it with new parts. I did this because I intended to keep it for a long time. ENGINE The rebuild included Valve stem seals Rocker arm bushings Piston rings All bearings All gaskets and sealing rings Timing chain and rails Oil and gas filters Pressure relief valves Etc.. Before reassembly the crank and moving parts were verified for clearance by a machine shop. TRANSMISSION and CLUTCH The transmission is the stock 5 speed in excellent condition. The pressure plate, disk and bearing were changed. BRAKES The front calipers and pads were replaced; the rear brakes are perfect. The master cylinder had a slight leak and was replaced. All brake lines were flushed with new fluid. BODY The general condition is better than a car that was used between 1978 and 1994. This vehicle is not the typical Porsche that today is 39 years old (1978-2017). There is absolutely NO rust whatsoever and no part of the car shows any suspicion signs of rust and this includes the body joints, floor pans, underneath and on all parts supporting the suspension The body is as straight as a pin and has not been modified. The color does look much better than in the pictures. It is a rich hue of a blend of gold and bronze. The Targa hoop is stainless steel as the original model. I can include the black version but the stainless one is striking. The headlights have the European look and the covers are chrome. GLASS All glass and trim are perfect-no scratches nor annoying glare as older windshields tend to suffer from. It is due to the fact that it was garaged by the previous owner and then stored in heated premises most of its life. The electric windows operate trouble free. INTERIOR The seats are electric and in an as new condition-no marks, blemishes, wear-no excuses. The dash is without cracks, sun damage or marks. The carpets had a very mild odor from storage and I replaced all of them. I assure you that any odor is gone! The headliner of the Targa top is as new. WHEELS and TIRES The wheels are original factory Fuchs. They are in excellent condition without scratches or scrapes. The tires have very little wear but I advise the purchaser to have them verified only because of the age factor. They may be fine because they were not exposed to the sun for the past 23 years. CONCLUSION This is a superior example of what a Porsche SC is all about. The 3.0L engine is described as the most reliable of the air cooled engines. This example does all that it was designed for-it runs straight, handles like a Porsche and brakes perfectly. There is nothing to be done to improve it other than perhaps replace the tires due to the age. The reason for the sale is that I purchased a 1967 911 which I must completely restore to the original condition of the 1967 911 that I owned back in 1969. I attached a picture of the disassembled state of a rust free newly painted soon to be beauty. .
