Vehicle Detail

Spring has arrived and this 1966 Honda Superhawk is looking for a good home with someone who wants an original 1960s bike with an awesome patina and is ready to ride. This bike is over 50 years old. It had been in a garage for many years, and when I saw the patina under all the dust I had the feeling it would be a solid running bike with some work. I was surprised at the condition of the blue paint. I’ve only had one other Honda of this vintage with original blue paint this nice. There are no dents in the tank, nacelle or the fork covers. The bike still has the ORIGINAL plastic tank badges, not the replacement metal ones. Please look at the images closely as I was careful to get good closeups so you can determine the cosmetic condition. The plating on chrome parts ranges from excellent all the way to surface rust. Some areas are flakey. All metal is very solid. I don’t think there is a dent anywhere on the mufflers. They look really good but undersides have surface rust, yet they are very solid. Both mufflers have the original baffles. The right sidecase cover has NO CRACKS where the kickstart shaft exits, an often overlooked point on these. The only thing missing on this bike as you would have received it new are a few tools in the tool bag and a manual. The chain guard is original and was repaired but is not really noticeable. I have done extensive mechanical work on it over the last year. I ride it often and it is a joy to ride. This bike warms up within a few minutes and it will not disappoint out on the road. It is registered as a 1967, but I believe it is a 1966 model. These 305 Superhawks are really agile and responsive bikes and this one is no exception. It has new tires, tubes and rimbands; completely new starter clutch and crankcase seals; chain is cleaned and lubed, sprockets are excellent; valves are adjusted, timing is spot on, gauges are serviced and work perfectly; all lights work and handlebar switches cleaned; wiring is excellent (nothing spliced or cut). Control cables are excellent. I replaced the original seat cover because it was very fragile and had two small tears. I had to hunt a bit to find a vinyl this color. Bright blue replacement seat covers are available but I felt the bike needed a covering that better matched the existing patina. The HONDA lettering on the back of the seat is airbrushed to look old too. The one thing I have not done is replace fork seals so assume that should be done sometime soon. I ride the bike every few weeks. It was at the York, PA bike show in January and among all the beautifully restored bikes, I thought it looked great with its original paint. I have the bike currently registered in my name with a Vermont registration. The winning bidder will receive a bill of sale along with the registration. The registration can be transferred to a title for your state. Shipping is buyer's responsibility, I can hold the bike here for 1 month if needed and also deliver for a reasonable fee within 100 mlles of my location (15 miles west of Baltimore). On Mar-23-17 at 11:54:37 PDT, seller added the following information: I added two more images that were taken when the work was being done to give an example of the condition - the nacelle wiring, and a wheel hub. I neglected to mention bids from any bidders with 0% feedback or less than 10 Ebay transactions (all 10 must be 100% feedback score), will be deleted. Sorry, but I have had a few nonpayment transactions. On Mar-26-17 at 19:18:13 PDT, seller added the following information: The reason the tach needle is not at zero in one photo is because the bike was running when I took the picture. The tach and speedo work as designed. Needles move steadily with no bounce. On Mar-26-17 at 19:20:43 PDT, seller added the following information: The bike is for sale internationally. The auction says "US only" even though I had changed it to indicate that. Sorry for the confusion there.
