2003 HONDA SHADOW VLX (VT600) in good condition. Only 23000 miles. No issues with bike. It runs great and has been well cared for. Includes: Memphis Shades windshield Large trunk Saddlebags Highway bar. The VLX is well known for being a starter bike. With its low seat height of only 25.6 inches it is ideal for shorter riders. At a dry curb weight of 439 lb, this 4 speed cruiser style bike is a pleasure to ride on the highway or around town. HISTORY: I am the 3rd owner. I bought this in May 2014 with 5080 miles on the odometer. The seller kept it in his garage. He had just put in a new battery. Although the tires had good tread, the sidewalls were cracked, so I bought new Kenda tires right away. Since then I've put 17000 miles on the bike; a combination of around town driving and two road trips thru the SE USA. When I first bought it I kept it outside under a bike tarp. After I moved to a mobile home, it has been kept under the carport roof. MAINTENANCE: Engine oil and filter have been changed on a regular basis. Front disc pads were replaced April 2015 at 13900 miles and hydraulic fluid was flushed. The drive chain and both sprockets were also replaced at this time. Rear brakes have not been touched. The wear indicator shows that the shoes are not worn, however, due to glazing they do squeal and I would recommend replacement. As mentioned above, the tires were replaced and soon will be due for replacement. I flushed the cooling system about a year ago and installed new antifreeze. That's all that's been done to her, and it runs fine now with no mechanical issues. APPEARANCE: Paint is original factory red and in my opinion for a 14 year old bike it's in pretty good shape. Get out your magnifying glass and I'm sure you'll find a chip or two someplace. There are no dings. The left side cover has a wear mark in the paint from keys dangling there (before I realized not to do that.) The chrome on the engine is in excellent condition. Aluminum parts have not fared as well. The triple tree is without any corrosion, but the fork tubes have a slight amount. The master brake cylinder has a fair amount of corrosion and I buffed out much of it with a wire brush but to do the job right you'd have to remove it from the bike. The chrome on the wheel rims is in decent condition but it isn't new. The spokes themselves are not rusted but the chrome is pretty much gone. No shine whatsoever and a dull grey appearance. The luggage carrier is a cheap import item that I bought off of ebay, and as you can see in the photo, it has a lot of rust. A few other minor rust spots I've tried to document in the photos. The saddlebags are old yet serviceable. The highway bar has road rash on the left side. The windshield is in great condition with no scratches in the viewing area.
