Vehicle Detail
The GoodThe car starts and drives perfectly and is in excellent condition. For a car of it's age and mileage, it's in pristine condition. From a driver's perspective, it's also one of the best cars you can own. Seriously, do a search for "Best Super Saloons of all Time" and it shows up in all the lists because it's incredible. The driving is precise, the torque is outrageous, and the engine noise is tastefully boisterous. In short, it's sublime. The BadThe car has the normal nicks and dings for a 15 year old vehicle: there are some paint scratches on the hood, front skirt, and rear bumper. The badge is a bit weathered and there's a small ding in the trunk's top right corner. The dashboard lights are a bit dim and the shifter knob decal is worn. The UglyThe secondary exhaust system has become fully blocked and it is not road legal in places with smog regulations. The registration is currently listed as a "Planned Nonoperation" and is no longer street legal. If you are unfamiliar about the secondary air system issue in these cars, Turner Motorsport has a quick writeup, just search "bmw e39 m5 secondary exhaust" on Google and click on the second result. SummaryFor people that do no have to pass smog to renew their registrations, the SES light should be a problem: the secondary air system is only used for emissions scrubbing the first 1-2 minutes the car is on and the rest of the car is is fine working order. I have been servicing this vehicle regularly at a certified BMW shop in my town and have been keeping the paperwork. DetailsSeller must pay for shipping or arrange for pickup. I am willing to have the car inspected by a representative of the buyer and will answer questions here as necessary. I have cross-posted the vehicle and already have a low cash offer.
