The operative term here is: Lowest total cost of ownership. I bought this car in March of 2015 intending to restore it and have had a lot of work done to it: 05/15 Glowplug relay 10/15 Rear brake calipers and pads 02/16 New front end suspension; ball joints, tie rods, strut mounts 04/16 New rear end suspension; axle, springs 05/16 Ebrake cables 05/16 Oil pan 06/16 Tires The longevity of this 1.9L turbo diesel engine is legendary. It neither leaks nor burns oil. These cars have been known to go to 350K. There are a few scratches that I’ve treated, but no rust and the body is in generally good condition. The interior is in fair condition, notably the fabric on the ceiling is delaminating but it’s hardly noticeable. It's got a Pioneer CD player with a USB input and the speakers are fine. The total cost of ownership of this car is about as low as it gets. Fuel economy is great, insurance is inexpensive and you needn’t worry about much else.
