Vehicle Detail
This car is being sold As Is! This new model 2000 VW beetle is in great condition for a 17 year old light driver vehicle. It is on the way to becoming a true survivor. This comes with the original owners manuals. It does have some minor scuffs and issues that I will try to point out in detail and probably making a bigger issue out of them than they are but I want you to know as much as possible about the car. I am trying to show as much in photos as possible. The mileage on the car may be slightly higher by the time it is purchased but it will be less than 100 miles more than in the photos. Exterior:The paint is in great condition and only has a few scuffs/chips as I have tried to show in the photos. Here are the details. There are slight scuffs on the running boards on both driver and passenger sides. I would expect some of these to polish out. There are some light scratches on the right rear fender that were deep enough to go through the paint but they have been touched up. The photos shows water beads and not paint bubbles with these scratches. The rear marker light lens is crcked but the light works and you have to look really hard to see the crack in the lens. The left rear fender has a scuff just by the running board that may buff out.The front bumper has just a few nicks from normal road use. There is a small scratch on the right front bumper just below the fender seam just over an inch long. The VW emblems are missing from the hub caps.I have tried to show all of this in the photos. The sunroof is fully functioning and has no leaks. Interior:The interior is super clean and shows very little wear at all. Floor mats are included. This has a CD changer in the trunk which is fully functioning. There are no rips or tears in the front or back seats. I can't stress how good the inside of this car looks. I am going to be really picky and point out all of the little issues that would normally go unnoticed. Almost all of this can be seen in the photos. The door panels on both driver and passenger side are sagging a little as seen in the photos by the pull handles. The plastic on the top part of the door panel by the window has some light scuffs as seen in the photos. There is also one scratch on the dash just a little bigger than a quarter. It's the picture with the single scratch. There plastic around the base on the front of the passenger seat has some light scratches. The glove box panel has some light scratches. There are light scratches in the silver of the steering wheel. The heat and AC work great along with the driver and passenger seat heaters. Mechanical:The gas door actuator is not working so the door does not fully close. I just lift it manually to fuel the car. These VW's are famous for having a draw on the battery and this one seems to live up to the expectation. If the car sits for a week it will need to be jump started but runs with daily driving. This could be coming from the fuel door issue or an issue with the alternator. Per my searches it could also be the comfort control module (CCM). There is a lot of information on how to track down this phantom draw online. It does have a new battery also. You will have an incredible car if you take the time to track this down this little issue. I do not have the time to take on the project. The cruise control has not worked since we owned the car. All I know is it does not work. The driver and passenger side door window rectifiers have been replaced in the last 2 years. This is a normal part failure on these cars. An issue you will not need to deal with if you buy the car. The tires are in good condition and have many more miles left in them. The spare tire is in place along with the jack and the accessories. The car runs great and is a blast to drive with the turbo. I am not aware of any other mechanical issues. The car is located in Berlin, MD 21811 just outside of Ocean City. Arrangements need to be made to pick it up from this location if you are the winning bidder. I may be able to bring it to Arlington, VA to be picked up and will discuss with the winner based on time frames. You will need to arrange for tags and insurance when picked up if you are planning to drive it.
