Vehicle Detail

If your looking at this I assume you know what a 1983 jeep cj 7 is. It is a simple fun bouncy soft top suv. It can go anywhere and is incredibly fun to drive in summer. It has a 4.2 l straight 6 engine with carburetor. It has a 4 speed manual transmission and 4 wheel drive. These are incredibly cool fun little trucks. that being said if its older than you are ask someone about them before buying or asking me questions. It is not a modern car. While it can drive daily its just slightly more comfortable than a motorcycle. It also requires knowing how to drive a stick shift. Ok for the serious people who know what a jeep is..... Amc 4.2 Runs and drives fine. I will note that after one idiot took it on a long hard test drive this fall it came back leaking oil from its valve cover and running rough. I replaced the valve cover and its driving fine without leaks again but either the cold weather or whatever he did has caused the jeep to feel like its lost some power. I drove it for 40 minutes last week in 20 degree weather. Trip was uneventful and motor ran fine. But i did feel like i had to use lower gear more than normal. Otherwise it has motorcraft 2100 carb and nutter bypass done on ignition. It has almost none of the miserable carter pulse air emissions crap and none of the problems that came with that disaster of the 80s. It has passed nj and Ny emissions tests every year for the last 10 or so years ive owned it. It does like to be warm before getting tested but it always passed for me. Catalyic converter did have to get changed 2 years ago though. 4 speed transmission works in all 4 forward gears as well as reverse. Clutch works fine. 4x4 engages high and low Both axles spin front differential locks and everything works fine. Hubs are manual locking. Yes get out and turn the knob. good news is they don't break like automatic hubs. Exhaust is 3 or 4 years old. Nothing fancy. It does have a new cat and exhaust is solid and not rusted out. Tires are 31x10 15 inch all 5 are in ok condition. they are older but hold air and have street worthy tread. Lights all work. Turn signals horn hazards work. Speedometer works but bounces 5-10 mph changes. fuel gauge does not work. Oil gauge works. Temp gauge not working but new one included with sale. No radio installed but new radio and speakers come with it. Climate control system is top on/ top off. Yea that's it. Heater core leaked years ago and was bypassed. Cheap fix if you want it. I only drive it in summer so I didnt care. No Air conditioning. Its a topless jeep. Go buy a honda if you need air conditioning. The body is solid. Minor scratches in paint but no real rust. Jeep has lived indoors at least last 10-15 years. no bondo or fiberglass. all steel. All solid. Anything bad was cut out and heavier metal welded in over the years. The frame is completely solid. No rust nothing is going to break. It has its share of undercoatings and poor 15 and whatever rust prevention paints that were applied over the years and they all flake off in places but i will hand you a hammer happily let you bang on the frame to prove its solid steel with no rust to worry about. The suspension is functional. Its also stock except for shocks. The springs work fine no cracks or problems but they could be replaced. The truck is bouncy and bottoms out on big pot holes. I thought about putting lift springs on but then it would not fit in my garage so its not my biggest concern. Steering drives straight at 75 mph but the wheel does have some play when parked. As for top speed about 75. Ive had it above that and it handles fine but the engine isn't happy about pushing it that much faster. The soft top is 2 or 3 years old. In good condition and has never actually been on jeep for more than a month or two. I just prefer the jeep to be bikini top open door summer toy. Hard doors are also included. they are original and in good shape but keys dont work. Oh ignition key doesnt work either. its push button ignition as well. No thats never been a security concern for me. Most people including professional mechanics have no idea how to start it. The custom stuff. those are tool boxes under the seat. they can be removed. The rear seat is also a tool box. It has seat belts for rear. It needs a foam pad if anyone wants to be comfortable back there. Its tach welded in but easily removed. Ill even do it for you if its a concern. The rock sliders are real 1/4 wall angle and pipe. They will support the jeep on any rock and will not bend. The roof rack is schedule 40. ive had 1000 lbs on it no problem at all. Its not technically a roll cage but its not going to break easily if you feel the need to test it. I don't suggest rolling a jeep. Its more headaches than you want. The roof rack can be removed with bolts and possibly a friend, but its not something you will take on and off every day. Bumpers are heavy steel and part of the truck. rear might unbolt but front is welded. I tried listing this in late fall it was a disaster. I know no one wants an open top vehicle in December but I need the garage space and want a small motorcycle that happens to be on sale now. So if there is interest lets talk. I dropped the price more than in half from what I had it listed at in the fall. I'm not likely to go much lower, but if your standing in front of me with cash and a trailer we can talk. No trades, no shipping, no ill send you a check from some imaginary country. Cash is prefered. paypall is for deposit or possibly for full payment only if I've talked to you in person first. I've already had one person buy it two weeks ago then never show up or send payment costing me time and ebay fees. I'm more than happy to work with you. I'll happily honestly tell you anything about the jeep or let you drive it in person. I'll possibly even help deliver the jeep if your local and pay for the fuel and travel time. Please don't waste my time playing games. I don't need to sell it. I don't have time for games. If your serious I'm happy to work with you. It's a really great little summer toy. Oh there are a ton of spare parts for it as well. Spare engine and all of the parts that bolt to it. Fuel tank clutch assembly bell housing. Basically enough spare parts to keep the jeep on the road for years. The buyer is welcome to everything I have for the jeep. Oh feel free to ask questions and make an appointment to actually see the jeep in person. Im in washington NJ warren county
