Vehicle Detail
You may never find another Elsinore with as few hours on it as this one. I purchased this bike from the original owner almost 20 years ago. He told me that he purchased it new and rode it a few times up and down some fire roads near his home. The bike scared him and he just put it away in his garage. This is an original, non-molested and not restored bike. I would imagine there are very few like this one, anywhere. I have never started it, although, the engine turns over perfectly with like new compression. In my opinion, this bike belongs in a museum and should not be ridden. The low hours are proven by the bike still having it's original, "fury" air filter (see photo) and the original tires, grips and levers. The tires have never been off the rims and still hold air. The tires have minimal wear but are cracking from age. The original air filter is still in place but would need replacement if the bike is to be started. There are absolutely no marks on the rims from tire changes. The bike is titled in my name and I will provide the buyer with a signed California Title (pink slip) and also a Bill of Sale. I will do my best to describe the bike in detail. As I have said, everything on the bike is original as it came from the factory. 95% of the nuts and bolts have never been touched. None of the cotter pins have ever been touched, even the one on the rear axle bolt has never been removed. The chain has never needed adjustment since the factory. I did remove the exhaust and re-painted it with hi-temp flat black, matching the original paint. The exhaust is perfect and 100% dent free. The tank is also dent free but has some scratches in the original clear-coat on both sides as shown in the photos. The green stripe on the top of the tank is near perfect but does have one small scratch down near the seat. All of the decals and warning labels are original and in fantastic shape. The original paint on the frame has pits and small rust spots hear and there but is still in great overall shape. The aluminum right fork tube has some spots of discoloration as shown in the photos. The front and rear fenders have a number of small scratches but since it is the original paint, I just left them alone. I replaced the front number plate strap with an o-ring. I still have the original strap (to be provided) but it is cracking and broken in two pieces. I removed, cleaned, and oiled the original chain. It is in great shape and still has a dab of yellow paint on the master link, put there at the factory. This yellow paint was also applied to the swing arm nut as shown in the photo of the engine right side. The red ignition wire (see photo) is still bright red and not cracked or faded because the bike has seen very little sun light. The spark plug is most likely the original. Many of these bikes do not have the original, three position, kill switch. The original switch has three positions, center on, with off positions to the left and right of center. Most racers of the time, through these switches away because they were easily bumped off during a race. I was once told that the bike does not have the original kick starter and that the original has a shorter foot area. I do know that this kick starter came on the bike when I purchased it from the original owner and I doubt that he would have changed it. It has solid locking action of the ball and detent and locks in the out of the way position perfectly. The original seat and aluminum base are in perfect condition. The seat fabric and foam has a soft like new feel with no blemishes at all. There are small pits hear and there on the chrome pieces but are hardly worth mentioning. The forks and shocks still work perfectly with dampening like new. The original owners manual comes with the bike and it is in great shape, greasy finger print free. This bike is the pride of my collection and I hate to part with it. This is about as close as you can get to out of the crate. I feel that if you take into consideration the almost zero wear and tear, this bike is worth in excess of my starting price. A chance to own an Elsinore like this one and a real piece of motocross history, rarely appear. I require a $500 deposit within 48 hours. Balance to be paid by cashier's check or cash if picking up in person. Under no circumstances will I release the bike until after the check has cleared my bank. Please do not bid unless you intend to fulfill your obligations as a bidder. I reserve the right to cancel bids from bidders with no history or poor feedback. Thank you and good luck bidding. Please note that I will be mostly out of touch with a computer due to the Thanksgiving Holiday from 11/23 until the close of the auction. I may or may not be able to answer questions during this period. I will do my best to check for and answer questions. Also, It is my intention to list this Elsinore as auction only. No "buy it now" is offered. I will not end the auction early.
