14.00 Matching #'s (350 high compression 4 brl./ 350 auto trans on column) 1971 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible. I purchased it in 2012. The owner was selling it because it got parked in 1995 not running up to par. I was able to drive it home from the owners house, but knew it needed attention. Let's start with what it took to get it on the road again. New water pump Rebuild what appears to be the original Quadrajet 4 barrel carb. Timing chain and sprockets. Complete tune up and oil change etc. Valve cover and other gaskets. Heater and radiator hoses. Fresh coolant. Flush out gas tank. BF Goodrich tires-245/ 15's all around. (matching rally wheel for spare tire in trunk). Front floor pans. (I am a certified welder in Oregon and did a very solid,complete installation of the factory replacement front floor pans). Door hinges both sides. Also door seals. Here's the things I did to it to make it a bit classier (My opinion of course!) ( : The grill and air scoop inserts are a matching set and are what many consider the nicest looking one's !Of course, a rust free factory original hood from New Mexico off a GS ! (I epoxy primed black on outer/detailed to match car! The Ram Air Cleaner Goodies!15 " Buick Ralley Wheels (5 wheels). .(obtaining all these goodies wasn't cheap, but they're worth it!). Turbo mufflers.(sounds good). NOS 1980's AM/FM Cassette classic stereo w/speakers.Cover over convertible top.(Boot). What it needs: This is an A/C car and all the pieces to have A/C go with the car.(they need restored/installed). Turn signal doesn't return when turning. Returns going left, stays turning right. Horn wont honk.(all other electric components work as they should unless otherwise specified.) Front seat needs upholstered.Rear seat needs some work too. (most of the interior is in great shape!). Speedo needle wiggles . Speedo works. Transmission shifts fine/functions fine, but in park it will roll without parking brake on. I believe it is the parking pawl loose or broken. Shouldn't be too big a deal to fix. The top is probably original. It is a glass rear window .It goes up and down but is tight due to age.Also you have to wiggle the switch to get in the up position. It has open areas i upper rear corners but appears to be mostly water tight. It could use a new top( hardware seems solid). The paint job looks OK,But needs some body work and a new paint job!. It probably needs quarter panel replacement on pass. side. I think that is the worst part of any body issues. On either side of radiator has been rust repaired around where the body bushings are(see pic's). I think it looks a bit sloppy. This is a typical rust area on these cars. I would remove the repair pc.s and install the correct repair pc,s available to fix it like the factory made it. The areas are confined to around the bushings The repair it has is fine but I just think someone could have made a cleaner looking repair. This is a nice good running rag top project for someone that can finish the body and put the right paint job and put a new top on it. That would make it a 9 out of 10. Whats really neat is it really looks sharp the way it is, and I can't take it out without getting tons of attention and thumbs up. People love this car! When I parked it to take my photos for this ad, 2 sets of people stopped and took pictures of it too. Heck, it took one of the 10 awards at a cruise in a few weeks ago! It runs and drives good. There are no leaks under the car(doesn't leak water, oil, tranny fluid ,or diff-amazing! I am selling the car locally so I may stop bidding if it sells locally. As is, but I have 100% good feedback because I am honest. I have given as much info as I can think of for now, and will add info if I think of more. A couple interesting factory options are the map light in the rearview mirror and radio antennae in windshield. Buyer takes care of the shipping if need be.
