Vehicle Detail

This is a 1977 Pontiac Formula Firebird. It is equipped with the W72/4 speed performance package. This is a two owner Texas Car. It was delivered to Kircher Pontiac in North Richland Hills, Texas in March of 1977. The first owner had it for 10 years. I bought this car in 1988 with only 60,000 miles on the clock. I drove it for 4 years and then it spent the next 20 years sitting in my brother’s back yard. This car is PHS documented and is collector grade. I recently reacquired it and freshened the body up with new paint and decals following the factory paint and trim codes. All the body and suspension bushings have been replaced. This was not a concours restoration as it was not in bad shape to begin with. All rubber seals (door, window, t top and trunk) were replaced. The door hinge pins were replaced. The wheels are not year correct but look much better than the original 7” rims. I do have the original rims and will be included with the car. The only rust issues were at the bottom of each c pillar between the metal and the windshield, the left rear floor pan and the rear window channel on the left side. All very minor with only light pitting. The restoration was photo documented and is available on request. Videos will be posted on my you tube channel under Casey Savidge. The interior is completely original with the exception of the headliner and carpet. Firewall, floor pans, rear seat shelf and package tray, door panels and roof were well insulated with 70 mil thick padding. The front seats show some minor wear. This car was ordered with the optional Lombardy velour interior and the rear seats look new. Power windows and tilt steering are also on the option list. The radio was replaced with retro type modern unit with a usb port for external devices. The engine block is non numbers matching but it is a correct code (WA) W72 piece. The heads, intake, distributor are all original. The carb is correct for an automatic W72. I do not have the original carb. The block had to be bored to 4.185” in order to properly clear. Because of this, I could not use a stock stroke for the crank as the compression would have been way too low. I equipped it with forged steel rotating assembly from Ohio Crank with a stroke of 4.10”. This brings the engine displacement to 463 cubic inches and the compression ratio to 9.5:1. The exhaust manifolds appear to be stock but are actually Ram Air 3 factory Pontiac headers. The cam is a Comp Cams XE262H flat tappet with .462 lift on intake and .470 on exhaust. Also installed are steel full roller rocker arms and big block chevy screw in studs. I’m an accomplished engine builder and built this one myself. Included is a blueprint sheet showing all the specifications of the build. The transmission is a BW super T 10 4 speed (numbers matching) and I rebuilt that as well. The rear end is a true posi trac with a 3.43:1 ratio. I have had this car for 28 years and am in no big hurry to sell. I have the space and resources to store it another 30 years. I love Pontiacs so I may consider cash/trade offers although I would prefer to sell outright. It WILL NOT be relisted again. The Formulas always have a lower production number than Trans Ams and comes with all the same performance options. Don't miss out on this one. This vehicle is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. You are welcome to arrange inspection of the car prior to bidding. If, however, you are the winning bidder, I expect our meeting to consist of a money/title exchange and then you trailer it or drive it away. If you start kicking tires and looking for flaws hoping to renegotiate a lower price, I will kick you off the lot and keep your deposit for wasting my time. I hate to sound like a jerk but this is based on a prior experience. Items that need to be addressed · Air conditioner system installed. (I have all the parts) · Center and left side A/C ducts under dash replaced. · Left hood hinge readjusted. · Left window adjusted. · Trunk needs splatter painted and carpeted. Space saver spare and jack are there. · Reverse lockout brackets and rods installed. (This requires you to place the transmission in reverse before you can lock the steering wheel and remove the key) · Back up lights hooked up. · The shifter is original but needs to be rebuilt or replaced. It’s a little sloppy. · The photos show the console missing the lid. This has been replaced.I wil may have to relist as the market seems to be slow. I work overseas and come home every 4 months and will knock something off the to do list each time. This is also my main mode of transport when I am home and enjoy driving it very much. I also intend to install a more efficient aluminum radiator before reinstalling the A/C system. On Oct-24-16 at 08:05:24 PDT, seller added the following information: The buy it now is 19500.00
