Vehicle Detail
Current Tags through February 2017, No Hidden Crash Damage Found, Clear Title In Hand, Brand New Tires 4 Months Old, A/C Just Serviced... You Don't See Many 1993 Mercedes-Benz 400E's. I obtained this car from a physician friend of mine who used it to commute back and forth between his home and the hospital where he worked. It's a basic W124 sedan, but has the somewhat rare V8 option. The car runs really, really smoothly on the freeway. The transmission Shifts Super Firm and was recently serviced I am told. A/C Blows Cold and was recently serviced with new Schrader valves. Windows appear tinted. Brand New Cooper Tires, Less Than 4 Months Old. New Thermostat, upper radiator hose and coolant flush last month. Battery was recently replaced with a brand new unit. Car appears to have been repainted the original gray color at some point. The paint Is A Little Faded On The Hood/Roof/Trunk, But No Peeling, so I think it could be easily buffed out. The dash Has No Cracks. Drives Straight. No Pull. No Wheel Balance Issues. No Check Engine Light. Clear Title and Tagged Until January 2017. Odometer shows 337,000 miles. All the windows and switches work, A/C works, auto door locks all open when key is turned in the lock, starts instantly even after weeks of sitting, engine is quiet at idle, exhaust system is not rusted out, body is not rusted, brakes have been replaced not too long ago. The tires are literally brand new. Thus far, everything on the car appears to work, other then the intermittent malfunctioning temperature and oil pressure gauges. I will discuss this in greater detail below. As one might expect, a car of this vintage could use some work. Motor mounts should be replaced, there is a slight power steering leak, some of the rubber trim around the doors shows some deterioration, some of the wood (see photos) has started to de-laminate and the seats show the normal wear/deterioration present on a car of this vintage. The engine temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge work at times and then drop to zero. A light bump on top the dash will bring them back online. They also go off at times when traversing a large bump, so I suspect the circuit board in the instrument cluster has a bad solder joint. The odometer stopped working last week when I drove the car to the car wash. It reads 337,000 miles and I believe this to be accurate mileage. I stepped in to save this car from possibly going into the cash for clunkers program. Not many 400E's from this ear are seen on the roads these days. It has a lot of potential for the right buyer. Contrary to the propaganda, Mercedes-Benz vehicles do not last 500,000 miles without maintenance. Do NOT expect to buy this car and drive it across country under the false assumption that a Mercedes is some kind of infallible device. They are like any other car and people are frequently blinded by Mercedes propaganda and buy these old vehicles in belief that they can somehow drive them forever without working on them. Please don't waste your time and money if your intent is to buy this vehicle to drive everyday without making needed repairs - These cars will not serve you well in that capacity and your money is better spent on a more reliable vehicle, such as a Honda. I am selling this car as a private individual in "As Is" condition and I have taken great pains to see that it is fairly and faithfully represented. I have current pink slip (ownership certificate) in my name and current California registration valid until February 2017. I will sell this vehicle worldwide, on the condition that buyer assumes ALL responsibility/costs for shipping, tariffs, customs fees and ALL liability for damage while in transit. Should the vehicle sell for less than $2,000 USD, full payment via PayPal will be the preferred method. Any and ALL payments will be verified and vehicle will be held until cleared. I will generate a bill of sale for you, to the nation you specify, in any language you request. Local parties of interest may contact me via messaging to arrange for a pre-bidding examination of the car. I make the following disclaimers: This car is used and I assume no responsibility for any underlying (unknown) mechanical conditions, other than those listed herein. California smog inspection is the buyer's responsibility. I offer absolutely no warranty on the car. I have done my best to faithfully represent this car. However, machines of this vintage are unpredictable - You purchase at your own risk. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. Best of luck to one and all....
