Vehicle Detail
For sale is my trusty 1997 Ford Aerostar minivan. I've had this vehicle for 13 years now, and I am just not using it anymore so it is time for it to find a new home. What is there to say about the Aerostar? They were probably some of the toughest minivans ever built, and they feature rear wheel drive, which makes towing a small boat or trailer quite easy. This particular car DOES have a trailer hitch and wiring. The Aerostar was loosely based upon the Ford Ranger pickup, though with a unibody and a Taurus V6 engine. The 3.0 liter 146 hp engine gives the van the ability to cruise all day at 75-80 mph without feeling strained, and the air conditioning is COLD! The van is in good condition overall, though there is some sun fading on the roof. Otherwise, a few small bumps and marks in the paint are all that is wrong. The van really does look very good overall. The gray cloth interior is in good shape, but there are some small tears in the roof liner and in the window tint. The bads: The engine leaks oil from the pan gasket. Not enough to register on the dipstick, but surely enough to make a small mess on your driveway. I have a spare pan gasket that I will include in the sale; I haven't repaired this because the engine has to be lifted off the mounts in order for this to be installed. I find it easier just to wipe up the small amount of oil. The steering wheel has some minor "play" right where it meets the column, and this is caused by a plastic bushing that commonly fails. The wheel is tight otherwise, the steering is centered, the van does not pull to either side, does not weave, and the tires wear completely even. The cruise control and horn are currently inoperative and the aftermarket stereo has failed. I just replaced the oil and coolant, and the fuel pump was also recently replaced. Tires are about 50% and brakes are good. -This van would be perfect for a young family, a person with a small business, or a college kid since it has room and COLD air conditioning!
