Vehicle Detail

This is a 2002 jetta Tdi . It has 159,500 miles and we are still driving it so mileage will change slightly. The car is in good cosmetic shape and we have always done all work needed to make it a reliable car. We are the second owners and purchased the car with 90,000 miles on it from the original owners. We have all maintenance records from the original owner and from our ownership. This car was used by my son to commute to school; he drove about 60 miles a day and we like the reliability and economy of the Tdi. He is now going off to college and we are reluctantly selling this only because we have no use for it. We have had several of these "alh" tdi's and think they are a great blend of fun to drive and economy. This car has had a lot done to it to keep it in top condition. I believe you will think this drives very close to the way it did when it rolled off the lot; I make sure the suspension is tight and it will drive without any vibrations or noises. Here is a short list of the new parts and work that were done on this car Durimg the past year or so: Front suspension- struts (bilstein tc), ball joints, control arm bushings(tt Audi) , end links, tie rod ends, basically complete front suspension.Sepantine belt, belt tensions rd and idler, alt pulleyFront rotors and padsInner cv jointsPower steering hoseTransmission fluid/fuel filterClutch- pressure plate/disc/ throw out bearingThermostat/temp sending unit/driver side radiator fan/reverse light switch/battery And, of course regular oil changes with Mann filter and t6 rotella. It has been a great car. You will see many of these cars have 300k+ miles on them.... The pictures are recent but I want to point out some "defects": There are some dents on drivers door(low), they are shallow and not very noticeable. Not sure if they are visible in pictures. There are a few small rust spots starting to develop. The right front fender is most noticeable. This car was repaired by vw under corrosion warranty before we bought it. I suspect vw did not repalce the right fender and it is now resurfacing. Not very noticeable but you should be able to see in pictures. There are other small chips/scratches you would expect with a car of this age and mileage. Timing belt was done right before we purchased. Should be done around 190k miles. We have the receipt for the prior owners work, it was replaced at a vw dealer. On Aug-09-16 at 08:36:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional details on car: 5 speed manual transmission. Mileage is very good, potential is up to 50MPG if driven sensibly. I can never drive these things sensibly, since they are fun to drive....fast! I get about 43-45mpg at 80mph on highway. The lowest I have seen is 30MPG in bumper to bumper commuter traffic into Boston. AC works. Rear door locks do not work with remote. Kind of a pain, but more of a pain to fix. Was like this when we bought it. I think the front door locks work. we have 2 keys with remotes, I think only one remote works. Has factory engine cover and undercar plastic shield. If you have any other questions feel free to email, I will answer to best of my ability. Additional details on maintenance items: Rear brakes were done at 135,000 Rear axle beam bushings were done several years ago, around 110,000. Rear shocks were done at the same time. Tires are all good, replaced within last 25k or so. Car is due for an oil change will be done before sale. Will need fuel filter in 5,000 miles. (Fuel filter last done at 150,010, important this is done every 15,000) Car has a "chip" upgrade - to the lowest level in order to eliminate EGR clogging. This cost about $300 and was done by a TDI expert in Maine.(Herm P) Battery is about 4 years old. I would have replaced before winter if we were keeping. Best place for batteries is VW dealer, they are fair priced and best quality. About 140.00 from memory. Not needed, but I replace before it gives out.
