Vehicle Detail

1978 DODGE MAGNUM XE NO RESERVE Thanks for checking out my 1978 Dodge Magnum XE, 400 #’s matching engine and transmission. This seriously is one of my favorite Mopars of the 70's!! When I was a kid, a neighbor of ours was a major Nascar freak, and when Richard Petty #43 started racing one of these cars around the tracks in the good old USA, he had to have one. It was a sweet car, I was 8 at the time, he had some aftermarket chrome wheels on it, it was really a hot looking car, my first site of that nose, and headlight covers had me hooked, and the sloped nose really caught my eye. I have always wanted to get my hands on one, but I honestly do not see these cars that often, and this is the first one that I have personally seen in years, and it was for sale, so I had to buy it, had to drive it and relive my youth a bit. I ran into this one owned by a retired gentleman, he and his wife bought it a few years back, and took it to shows and enjoyed it a bit. They recently have not been using it, so they decided to sell it. This is a pretty good example for a vehicle that is now 38 years old, amazing how time flies. Check out the video, added a little music from a new hit that came out in 1978. Anyways, if you have questions let me know I would be glad to answer it has things it needs here and there, but all in all a very solid car. Thanks and Happy Bidding, Jason 503-910-2085 The body is in great shape, bought new down in Santa Ana, California in July, 1977. It was then traded in at a new car dealership, Olinger Dodge in Gladstone, Oregon, in 1980. The second owners had it up until 2010. As I mentioned earlier, they used to take it to shows, and various cruise-ins, but with their age, the decided to do some other things instead of show it, instead of it being parked in the garage. The second owners had it repainted in the early 1990’s the original color, overall it is nice looking from 20 feet away, but has you get a little closer you notice some flaws in the paint, small dings, small chips and such, there is some orange peel on some areas, maybe a cut and buff might be good for it, but overall it is glossy it looks decent for a nice driver. The body is very solid, no signs of any accidents, actually pretty clean when you look inside the door jams, in the trunk, front inner fender aprons. You can also see I took photos of it underneath. It is really solid, the Landau top is in good shape, there is some small bubbling on the passenger side see picture, pretty minor. The rockers look very good, no rust, no bubbles, around the wheel lips look great, behind the rear tires on quarters look nice. The trunk and floor boards look in nice condition as well. Overall it could use detailing and some small cosmetics, but check out the photos and video and you will get a great idea of what it is. The interior for original condition is in great shape. A little wear on the seats but overall very nice, nice carpet, the headliner is in good shape as well. The dash area is clean, no cracks in it. Again it could use a few cosmetic things inside but overall nice, NON smoker. Do not roll down the windows. The driver’s window goes down, but may not come up, again, we had a hard time making it come back up, either it is the switch or the window motor, I am guessing motor, needs cleaned or replaced, we finally got it to come up, not sure how but all the sudden it worked. The passenger side do not roll it down, it is little funky as well, it needs help getting back up, I think if it were me, I would take the motors out and switches and have them tested in the future. The Sunroof works perfect does not leak either. All the gauges, seem to be working good, odometer reads 95,931 and believe that to be true. The interior lights are working, but someone made some small white clear covers for them, I guess the other ones got old and cracked, so someone was trying to cover them, maybe new courtesy covers on ebay perhaps Otherwise the interior is pretty clean, the radio does work, but the power antenna does not go all the way down. The trunk area is in great shape, no signs of rust. It is the big 400 V8 engine in it, they came with 3 engine optins, 318 2v, 360 2v, and the N code 400 4V engine, this car got the top engine option. It starts right up, and sounds great, these engines are great engines. You can hear a hole in the muffler, not loud but you can hear it, sounds muffled, overall it runs good, can drive it all day long. It does not smoke or seem to burn any oil, no major oil leaks, just normal seepage for an original drivetrain. It is Numbers Matching engine and transmission, VIN on both. I did replace the valve cover gaskets, one was seeping a little, so I changed them both. The transmission shifts nicely, no unusual noises, very smooth shifting. The brakes seem to be in good shape, stops nice and straight. The tires are in good shape, maybe around 80% tread even wear. They are Toyo 800 Plus Radials, P215/75/75. Overall the general car is in solid shape, mechanically it is in good shape for its age, it will need some tinkering, and it will need a little this and that, but overall for a 1978 Magnum, it is in great shape for someone to enjoy and have a great time with. A very good entry level Mopar, that has a great look, and at the time was a pretty hot looking car, especially for Nascar nuts. I have been selling classic cars here on eBay since 2003, 13 years now, with around 750 classic cars sold over the internet. What I love about these old cars, is that I get to own some of my favorite cars one at a time, I have turned this passion into a business, but for me it is an awesome time to enjoy the cars themselves. It has been such a joy to do business with people all over the world. I have sold multiple cars to many buyers all over from Europe, Dubai, Australia, Japan, Brazil, just to name a few. It has always been a pleasure, getting to know other car enthusiast all over the Continent, especially some that have become very good friends of mine because of our love for cars. These are classic vehicles, with lots of history, almost years old, so they are used, not perfect, they don’t have warranties, or guarantees, they are as is, where is, nothing else is promised, I can’t possibly explain every little thing about a vehicle in writing, believe me I've tried, lol, seeing in person is always best, I try to give an good description, and normally over 75 photos at least, so you can get a good gauge of what it is, and isn’t. It has the Olinger Dodge plate frames from 1980, and Oregon plates, they look similar, they are good actually till 2018.
