FULL DISCLOSURE:I bought this car in April 2016 in Ohio (car came from Virginia before that) with the plan to build a track car. One month later my plans have changed, I have a new track toy, and now I'd like to move this car to a new home. I bought this example because it was the cheapest on the market at the time and was very surprised when I saw the excellent condition it was in. Car is exactly as I purchased it, no modifications have been made. The reason I picked the MR2 Spyder is because this is a perfect example of how a sports car should be. Extremely light weight (just over 2,000lbs), mid-engined and rear wheel drive. This car is basically Toyota's version of the Lotus Elise/Exige, for a quarter of the price. The chassis has much better balance than the previous generation MKII MR2, and because of that it doesn't require massive tires and grip in the rear to keep it from oversteering. If you live near mountains or around lakes like I do, you'll have plenty of twisty roads to enjoy this car to its fullest potential. ABOUT THE CAR BODY:Panels are in excellent shape save for a few scuffs on the front and rear bumpers (see pictures for details). No dents or scratches on the front fenders, rear quarter panels, hood or engine lid. Paint is still in great condition and shines when it's clean. LIGHTS:All exterior lighting is working properly (taillights, headlights, daytime running lights, side markers, all brake lights and turn signals). Headlight covers are slightly cloudy but this is a small cosmetic issue and an easy DIY fix. If you're not a DIYer, it's actually surprisingly cheap to buy full replacement headlight assemblies (including cover, housing, bulbs, harness). SOFT TOP:The manual folding soft top is in excellent condition, no holes, tears, rips, anything. Unbelievable condition considering its age. WHEELS/TIRES:Stock setup with 15x6" et45 in the front, 15x6.5" et45 in the rear, 4x100 bolt pattern. See pictures for details of all 4 wheels. Some paint chipping on the inside of 1 spoke on 1 wheel. All others in excellent shape. Yokohama S.Drive ultra high performance summer tires on all 4 corners (185/55R15 in the front, 205/50R15 in the rear) provide excellent lateral grip. SUSPENSION:MacPherson struts on all 4 corners. Stock suspension has good stiffness to keep the car level in the middle of a corner, but is still soft enough for daily driving and rough road conditions. Feels to be in excellent condition, no excessive body roll or bounce from worn out springs. ENGINE:All aluminum 1.8L 1ZZ-FED from Toyota. Dual overhead camshafts and 16 valves, uses Toyota's VVT-i variable cam timing system for a great power surge at over 6000 RPMs. Makes 140hp and 126lb-ft, which is enough to push a 2000lb car to 60mph in 6.5 seconds. Has 111,500 miles on the odometer and plenty of examples have run to twice that amount. No check engine warning lights and revs quickly and smoothly. TRANSMISSION:5-speed manual gearbox with 4.329 final drive ratio. The high final drive ratio makes for quick revving and good acceleration even when starting at lower RPMs. This makes the car feel very quick in and out of corners. Clutch pedal is light and smooth which would be indicative of a pressure plate in very good condition. INTERIOR:In very good condition, showing only normal signs of wear for an almost 15 year old car. There is a scuff on the center console and the drivers seat has some wear in the cloth from climbing in and out (you can see this in the picture of the interior). I removed the seats, carpet and center console and cleaned out the tub, vacuumed the carpet and seats before reinstalling. I was able to remove a lot of dirt and old food spills that had been under the seats and inside the center console, and was able to remove the weird smell you get with old used cars. All speakers are working well, head unit looks to be upgraded with a CD changer, not sure if this was stock equipment or not but it is working fine all the same.
