Vehicle Detail
This Roadrunner was purchased from the original owner 3 years ago. He had began restoration on it as he had ran it on the track for several years. The car spent most of it's time in California and southern Utah and was 95% rust free. He had cut 2 inches out of the wheel wells to run 'wrinkle tires' and I had rear quarter skins and outer wheel wells installed (unprofessionally). Some minor dents were painted over and the paint still needs wet sanding and buffing out. The hood should probably be re-painted depending on how particular you are. The car has the fender tag, but no paperwork or build sheet. I had a 383 (1967?) built for the car and the block that came with the car is suppose to be the original block and will go with the car if you want it. It will need building. The 383 in the car has the forged crank, and a pretty mean comp cam with 906 heads that were fitted with new valves, springs and hardened seats. A fair Holley 750 sits on an aluminum Edelbrock manifold and it has the original HP exhaust manifolds plumbed to 2 1/2 inch new exhaust with straight thru mufflers connected to the correct tips. I replaced all fuel lines, tank, sending unit, brake cylinders, brake shoes, brake lines and hoses. The original owner had installed a new master cyl., and these new items were installed: NOS heater box Aluminum Radiator with 2 10" electric fans/thermostat some new wiring harnesses new seat covers (Year One) New headliner (poorly installed) New horn, relay and harness (have not got it to work yet) New carpet New Electronic Ignition/Distributor New BF Goodrich tires New trunk mat New hood insulation Some of the glass especially the rear is hazy. Bumpers are dinged and slightly rusted. This is not a show car so if that is what you are looking for, keep looking. The front end, suspension and undercoating remains and was untouched. Manual steering, but is tight and no problems in driving. I have only put 30 miles on the car, don't have the time and need room in my shop to work on other projects. The paint on the car looks good from 30 feet away and the car is a good daily driver. Carb will need adjusting as I live around 7,500 feet in elevation. 4 Speed is original, but I had it completely gone through as well as balancing the driveshaft. Rear differential is not original and is not limited slip. Ratio is 391:1 I believe, and does have some noise. I think the original owner replaced the firewall as he had a full roll cage for racing at one time. I'm being honest as I can about the condition of the car, and it's definitely not a rust bucket that I see go on here for 8 or $9,000 bucks. I have the reserve set at $3,000 less than what I have in it and have most of the receipts for parts from Year One. I'm getting too old to start getting speeding tickets, so my loss is someone's gain. Thanks for looking, and the car is sold "As is". A $2000 deposit is expected within 48 hours of Auction end. I can possibly load the original block in the trunk if you are sending someone to pick up the car.
