Up for your consideration is a 1973 Triumph TR6 that is 90 - 95% rust free. This car has spent at least the past 6 years stored indoors out of the weather and has survived time in outstanding condition. As you will see in the photos, this car is extremely solid! The only areas of rust are a few small spots on the rocker panels, and one small spot on the lower area of the right rear fender down between the wheel opening and the door. The paint appears to be the original lacquer which is cracked on the hood, deck lid, and upper areas of the fenders that would be exposed to the sun. When I intercepted this car the left rear fender and bumpers were missing. Though I don't have a set of bumpers nor a steel fender to put on it, I did have a fiberglass unit to fill the void. So, I hit it with some brown paint and improved its appearance. The rest of the car is all solid British Leyland steel. As for the engine. The stock 2.5 6 cylinder runs good and holds roughly 20 psi. oil pressure at operating temperature. It could use a bit of tuning as it is running a bit rich. It doesn't smoke, knock or have any unwanted noises. As for leaks, it does have some seepage as it has been setting for numerous years. The 4 speed NON OVERDRIVE shifts smoothly and operates as it should. Rear differential: The final drive system operates quiet and the rear axles do not offer up any unwanted noise. Front Suspension. The front shocks and upper ball joints are in excellent condition. It appears that the previous owner replaced the shocks and upper ball joints. The tie rod ends are tight and appear to be in good condition. The lower trunion bushings however do need replacing. There is a bit of a sag in the right front and the front springs may need replacing. However, that could possibly change with the replacement of the trunion bushings along with a much needed alignment. Rear suspension: The rear shocks are not leaking and with a basic "bounce test", they feel stiff as though they are doing their job. Frame: The frame on this car is very solid as well ! I checked all the common problem areas and everything is in very good condition. Electrical / lighting: The alternator is charging the battery as it should. The side marker lights, tail lights, turn signals, brake lights, dash lights and reverse lights work as they should. Though the headlights are working, they are not operating as they are supposed to. The high low switch isn't working. Gauges: The oil pressure and volt meter work fine, the fuel and temperature gauge are not working. The speedometer which reads 50,898 miles, and tach are both in operating order. I could not test the wipers as the car didn't come with a switch, and I do not have a replacement. Interior: As you can see in the photos the dash pad is missing. A new aftermarket pad is included in this sale. As you will see in the photos, the seat covers are in excellent condition but the padding is shot! The carpet is all there but has discolored over time. The clear on the dash is peeling, but the laminate doesn't show to be separating. The seat tracks move forward and back freely, and the seats recline forward and back as they should. The transmission tunnel has a hole up near the fire wall down at the starter area. This may be able to be repaired with fiberglass resin and cloth. The rear trim in the interior is in very nice condition. Another plus is that although this car has been setting for many of years, I have not found any indication of mice. The car smells like the inside of a TR6 is supposed to. Tires & Wheels: The tires are Dunlop Questor 205 75 R 15s which are in excellent condition with roughly 60 - 70% tread. They show no sign or weather cracking or any other negative characteristics. The trim rings are in good condition as are the center caps. There is a bad spot on the left front center cap, however the other three are very nice. The chrome on the lug nuts is in very good condition with no chips or peeling. The top frame operates freely to raise and lower the top. There is a small hole on the left side approximately 1/4" and another smaller hole about the size of the head of a pin at the front in the center. All the windows are clear and the back window zips and un zips as it should. The windshield and door glass is in excellent condition. There are no cracks or wiper blade scratches, and the door glass is good as well, they roll up and down easily. Brakes and hydraulics: The front pads are 60 - 75%. The left front brake has a squeal when the brakes get hot. The rear shoes are approx. 50%. There are no leaks in the hydraulic system. The exhaust system though not factory, is in excellent condition from front to rear. Included with this sale is a pair of aftermarket mirrors for the doors, the aforementioned dash pad, and a tune up kit including a set of plug wires. Being this car has been stored away for an unknown amount of time, I would highly recommend that prior to considering this car ready to drive- that one would give it a tune up and an overall once over to assure that it meets YOUR standards. Other than the one small area on the right rear fender (shown in the photo), all three steel fenders, doors, deck lid, and hood are in excellent condition. There are no holes or signs of rust. 2. Yes, the floor pans are solid. 3.The only rust is the on the rocker panels as shown in the photos. 4. Yes, the car does run, the clutch and brakes work as they should. 5.
