Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is an incredibly well preserved K1 CB750 with about 14,000 miles. This motorcycle was in a barn for 16 years when I bought it from the original owner in 2015. The original seat, pipes and most everything else looked amazing. Even the rubber on this bike was in nice condition which is very unusual for a 45 year old bike. I removed the original tank, side covers and fork ears and replaced them with Yamiya body parts which make the bike look like it is almost new. This bike gets attention everywhere it goes. Here are some of the things that have been done to the bike: - Carbs were carefully ultrasonically cleaned, repaired and adjusted. The bike runs like new. - Front forks were serviced: New gaiters, seals, fork oil, etc - Front brake and master cylinder were repaired. - The front wheel bearings were greased - New faces for gauges but the originals were in very nice shape with minor fading. - All moving parts were cleaned and serviced - Valves were adjusted - New Coils with wires were installed - Dyna electronic ignition was installed - New Honda plug caps and standard NGK plugs were installed - Changed oil, filters, etc. - New high strength X-Ring chain with new sprockets - New rear Honda rim with new Honda spokes (I have originals that look nice too) - New front fender, but I have the original that looks pretty good - Serviced the swing arm - New front and rear tires - New Honda chrome points cover - Triple tree roller bearings were replaced with tapered bearings. - The fork springs were replaced with new progressive type springs. The original seat is in exceptional condition but it isn’t perfect. There are a couple of very minor scuffs on it but most people would not notice them. The HM300 pipes are in outstanding condition but there are a few minor dents and scratches. The rear fender has a couple of scuffs and a very small dent near the base of the tail light; however, most people never notice these flaws. I wanted to leave the original rear fender in place because it had a “priceless” sticker from the dealership. The bike runs great and it is a joy to ride. It turns heads every time I take it out. I took it to one car/motorcycle show last summer and it won a trophy. An “expert” on the CB750 thinks that all 1972 Honda CB750 models are “K2”, but I don’t believe this is accurate. I have four pieces of evidence that indicate Honda sold “K1” models in 1972. This bike is one of these few and I will provide the proof with the bike when it is sold. This bike was not mistakenly titled as a 1972 model; it is a 1972 K1. Proof in a nutshell: 1. The state of Wyoming requires vehicles to be registered according to the manufacturer’s model year. I will provide a copy of the original 1972 title to the buyer. 2. 1971 K1 models had a 17 tooth front sprocket. This one came with an 18 tooth sprocket which was a change for 1972 models. The original owner told me he never replaced it, so I know it was the original. I will provide the worn out 18 tooth sprocket to the buyer. 3. A luggage rack was on the bike when I bought it and there is a stamp on it that says “1972 CB750 K1. This goes with the bike” I obtained a Honda advertisement (it may be a reprint) for the Honda 750 that was printed in 1972. The bike pictured is a K1 model. I will give this ad to the buyer. If the bike sells for over $8000.00, I will give the buyer all the original parts (tank, side covers, chain, etc.). If it sells for less than $8000.00, I will sell the original parts for $500.00 if the buyer wants them.
