Vehicle Detail
Hi, up for bid is my 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe. Here is the Description: Engine/Transmission, The engine is the original born with 390 cu. inch V8, it has 48000 miles, runs smooth and starts right up. The power brakes have a rebuilt master cylinder, wheel cylinders, rebuilt power booster, new brake lines and hoses, The car runs and stops, steers and tracks nicely. The original radiator has been recored and has no cooling issues. All lights and turn signals and horn work as they should. The engine compartment was left alone with the exception of the valve covers that were painted by one of the owners. The car will need an exhaust system in the future. The original transmission operates perfectly with no issues. The radio is not working but the power antenna does. The car rides on a brand new set of correct Coker white walls. Exterior, The body was repainted in its original color (black) in 2001-02 but looks as if it was done 2 months ago. The exterior chrome is in my estimation fair condition, the worst being the 2 rear bumper ends. The mouldings are in excellent condition with no dings or scrapes. The glass is original except for the windshield, and is in very good condition. The floor pans and trunk pan are original and solid with no patching or rust that I can see, and the frame is very good with no rust showing. The trunk has been left original with what I believe is the original non DOT spare tire, and all jacking equipment with the jacking instruction sticker still attached. The interior is original and in very good condition, the chrome, stainless and seating areas look very nice especially for a 57 year old vehicle. The carpet is fair with a few issues by the heel pad and some separation in the rear area. The headliner is faded but not ripped or separated; it could probably be cleaned up. History, The car was purchased in Chicago and has remained here ever since. The original owner traveled for work and did not drive the car very often and it sat in the garage for quite a number of years. The original owner sold the car in 1982-83 to the second owner and the car was only used for shows, or an occasional Sunday drive or wedding. After the second owner had the car painted the car only came out of the garage a couple of times a year, and actually sat for the past several years. I purchased the car last year, and have kept the tradition of car shows and a couple Sunday drives. What the car is, This car was ordered from the factory in the very desirable color combination of black with white interior, this is a true survivor with mostly original parts! The car is a very nice driver, it is not a garage queen and it is not a show car, it’s a car you can enjoy and be proud of. When you take it to a show there will definitely be a crowd around the car, and 99% of the time you will be the only 1959 Caddy there! This is one of those cars that years later you say “remember my old 59 Caddy, I wish I never sold that car! The car is 225” long make absolutely sure it fits in the garage before bidding! The car is located in the NW suburbs of Chicago and will be available for viewing until the end of the auction. Interested persons are encouraged to inspect the car in person. Please take a look at the pictures; they will give you a feel of the condition of the car.Local pickup only, buyer is responsible for shipping. Please no trades, and in fairness to bidders I will not reveal my reserve, but I will state the car is priced very fair. On Jun-02-16 at 03:59:44 PDT, seller added the following information: To all bidders, last evening while showing the car, a dime size hole was noted in an obscure area of the trunk. A photo will be posted. In good faith I wanted to disclose this to all bidders. I will deduct $250 dollars from the final bid to repair this spot. Sorry for any confusion. On Jun-02-16 at 15:05:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Per several requests, I added a few pictures of the floor pans and suspension. As you can see the factory undercoating is still intact.
