Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my 1963 VW Beetle. I love it, but it needs some TLC and I'm ready for it to go to a good, new home. Very original condition. Odometer reads 01591 - it must have rolled over once. Original paint color "Golf Blue" with very nice patina. Great character. Very solid. Little to no rust. One hole/tear in pan under passenger seat. Drivers side door and quarter panel is a little bruised. It must have been hit there a long time ago. The front left fender must have been replaced at that time because it has different colored primer showing through. It appears to be the original drivers door. It opens and closes as it should. It just has character. It has all five original two-toned rims. Tires are old and cracked, but still hold air. Has an original gas heater - not currently working. Two lap seat belts in the front. All electrical works - except for the original radio and the interior light. Still a 6v system. 1500 cc motor. Runs well-ish. Purrs like a kitten, but loses power after running for a bit. I think this might be due to the voltage regulator being bad, but I don't know for sure. It leaks a bit of oil. Very recent tune up, oil change and valve adjustment. Compression checked out fine. Brakes are good - recently adjusted, but front left wheel needs some attention - not sure. I was driving it home the other day and there was some smoke coming from it. It got hot, but didn't seize up. Transmission shifts smoothly. Interior in nice-ish original condition. Drivers seat was recovered or replaced in black. Nice wood-slat reproduction roof rack included with patina to match the car. Recently installed new 6volt battery and starter. I think it still needs a new ignition switch or voltage regulator. I rigged up an auxiliary starter button with some wire running back to the starter and solenoid. Still needs some attention in this department. It's a bit of a fixer-upper, but certainly a beautiful patina queen. It's a very solid project Beetle. It will drive on and off a trailer, but I wouldn't drive it home.
