R A R E C A R A L E R T ! ! ! SHOW READY, 1970 Plymouth GTX HISTORY: Originally a 440 4 barrel GTX car, the previous owner spent $67,000 to restore the car and convert it to a six pack. He also changed the transmission from an automatic to the pistol grip five-speed Tremec transmission. However he made the mistake of painting the hood stripes and rear tail assembly bright white. Although it matched the white side stripes, it was not period correct. Those areas were returned back to their original flat black. The engine was done by a Mopar man in Greenville Ohio in 1999. He had it bored .30 over with flat top pistons, a 509 cam, and Mopar 906 heads. The car ran alright, but a dyno test only showed 265 horsepower at the rear wheels. This was not performing as expected from this car that was originally rated at 390 horses stock. After a complete engine rebuild it is now a bored .40 over, 496 cubic inch stroked engine with a Crane hydraulic roller cam and ported Edelbrock heads & intake. It now has 448 horsepower w/ 800 pound feet of torque.
