1996 CHEVROLET IMPALA SS LESS THAN 10,500 ORIGINAL MILES OWNED BY DEALER SINCE NEW This 1996 Impala SS is a true time capsule. Owned by a Chevrolet dealer since new, it carries just over 10,000 miles on the odometer and shows and drives like-new. The car is a powerhouse and a nod to the true full-size cars of yesterday. The Dark Cherry Metallic exterior with body-colored trim and grey leather interior are impeccable. Under the hood, the LT1 V8 is in fantastic condition and hurdles this steel rocket down the road. Seventh generation Impalas, not to mention SS models, are becoming more and more rare and this car is truly a collector's piece. At the North American International Auto Show in 1992, GM teased the world with a resurrected Impala SS. Reception to the car was enormous and Chevrolet put it into production for the 1994 model-year. Taking much of its components from the Chevrolet Caprice Police Package cars, the Impala SS included a sport-tuned suspension, reinforced shocks and springs, large 4-wheels disc brakes, transmission cooler, dual exhaust and a high-capacity reverse flow cooling system. The Impala SS was powered by a corvette-inspired 5.7L V8 LT1 tied to a 4L60-E automatic transmission. Production of the Impala SS ceased in 1996. The '96 model would stand for more than a decade as the last GM produced rear-wheel-drive full sized performance sedan.
