Vehicle Detail
Very Reluctant sale of my baby I bought from a fellow enthusiast in Portland Oregon 3 years ago. Approx. 32,000 Miles. Lovingly mechanically restored by previous owner who did an amazing job. Until Spring 2015 I rode it daily and was religious about maintenance intervals. I have put probably less than 1,000 miles on it in the last year due to being busy at work (I have a small biotech startup company). I am selling because I need the money due to delays our capital fundraise or I would keep it.I have a complete Paris Dakar kit: Original PD tank repainted and restored by previous owner, PD seat and rack (high quality by S. Meyer) and original white fairing. I have an already drilled for fairing white headlight nacelle/clamshell and a brand new high quality S. Meyer black headlight bucket as well. For parts, I have a BMW gasket set, carb rebuild kits including diaphragms, some leaky extra petcocks, a brand new original style right hand petcock for the PD tank (necessary to avoid fuel line lying on cylinder), the PD tank rubber mount, the crossover for the PD tank, rear turn signal mount (busted last year but never got time to install new one) and various extras. Bike has original complete BMW tool kit, tire pump, and manual. I rode the bike pretty much every single day for the first 2.5 years I owned it, including one long trip through the Western U.S. and a ton of day & overnight trips in Oklahoma and Arkansas. I have taken it on plenty of dirt and gravel roads and some mild off roading but nothing hardcore or motocross style. Only thing to go wrong during my ownership was a diode (replaced with upgraded unit) and I replaced the rear drive unit seal. Only modifications I have done is recover the seat to the red/orange cover from the black and do the common headlight wire reroute to European spec (<1 minute to revert to US spec) to allow me to run the bike without the headlight on.The Paris Dakar tank was mounted once for a few weeks then put back on the shelf wrapped in a blanket. I never honestly needed the extra 4 gallon range on my trips although it would be really handy for long trips in the western states. Nitpicks with the bike:Carbs could probably use a cleaning at some point, never got time to but I have the parts. It is barely noticeable and you can ride it across a continent as is; the bike starts easily and idles fine after it warms up. I can text videos of cold starting and running. The rear turn signal stock is broken, I have the part but never got time to replace. There is a small rip in the dual seat. These blemishes can be seen in the pics.
