Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis LS sedan has just 29,000 miles, and has been extensively refurbished after being used sparingly by the first owner. I am the third owner, having purchased it from a dealer that had bought it from the original owner. The Mercury is blue with a blue half-vinyl top and a blue leather interior, and the first owner checked a lot of the desirable option boxes (power leather seats, alloy wheels, air conditioning, AM/FM cassette). Paint and interior appear to be original, and in great shape for the car’s age. The car runs and drives very smoothly, and virtually everything works. It is kept in a climate-controlled garage when not being used. The car was a class award winner at the 2015 Ford Nationals in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Included with the car will be documentation including the original window sticker (framed); a Marti report showing the car’s equipment, original selling dealer, and production figures; an original sales brochure; a full shop manual and electrical diagnostic manual (both original Ford publications); receipts and paperwork for all repairs listed below; and the award plaque from the 2015 Ford Nationals.Over the past 18 months, a number of systems have been replaced or refreshed. Repairs include:A/C compressor and system recharge (R-134 conversion, blows cold)Refurbishment of original alloy wheels to like-new condition (wheels had surface corrosion)Four new white sidewall tires (tough to find these days)Overhauled 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission (with warranty)New radiatorNew starterNew exhaust system including catalystsNew rear brake linesNew spark plugs, wires, and distributor capWheel alignmentAs with any car that’s a quarter-century old, it’s not perfect. Here are the areas to be aware of:There are a couple of rust spots – one on the left rear quarter panel, and some minor rust on the lower edges of the rear quarters behind the wheels (see photos)There is a dent in the edge of the trunk that should be easy for a paintless dent repair shop to remove (see photos)The parking brake has been sticking, so its cable is loose to prevent this. A shop I consulted said that a new parking brake ratchet mechanism and cables should fix this, parts that should be commonly available on the used market. The heat and air conditioning systems work great, but the hot/cold slider is loose and will probably need to be replaced. The right power mirror moves in and out, but not up and down. The driver’s door locks with the key and the internal lock button, but does not lock with the power lock button (the other three doors do). This is a great opportunity to get into the collector car hobby at a great price! Overall, the car is in great shape – I hate to let it go, but my collection is getting too big for my storage garage, so it’s got to go. The reserve is set at a reasonable price for a car of this condition. I’ve done all the repair work, so all you have to do is drive and enjoy it! A video of the car with a walkaround and engine start can be found on YouTube at https://youtu.be/R9ONxfz0bAk. I have a clear Maryland title for the vehicle. A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of auction, with the remainder by wire transfer or bank check within 7 days. Buyer is responsible for shipping, but is located very close to BWI Airport in Maryland. Buyers with feedback scores less than 5, please contact me first.
