Up for sale (also on the local CL) is a 2003 Subaru Forester with a 5-speed manual transmission, the ultimate New England winter weather vehicle. It is in good user condition; everything works properly; handles, drives, breaks and shifts without issues, and apart from some minor dings that can be expected of a car this age and mileage, it is quite presentable. Approximately 158.500 miles on the odometer, and with almost new (3000 miles) all weather tires fitted. A set of brand new dedicated studded Firestone Winterforce winter tires (yes, they are allowed in the New England states during the winter, search AAA website for more info) mounted on new steel wheels (a $700 total value) are also included in the sale if you so wish. Few, if any, cars will beat the drivability in snow with them fitted. We are selling the car only because we have one car too many; the little need we had for a second car, a couple of trips to pick the kiddos up at school every week, will now be covered by using the car of the in-laws that just moved in with us, yay...!... ;-) One common problem of this model Subaru has been taken care of; the fuel filler neck has been replaced (google that term with Subaru and you will see), as well as the fuel cap. Often these parts fail with time and trigger a check engine light. The part for this repair is relatively cheap, but the labor cost isn't, so keep this fact in mind if you are in the market for this particular car. Also, according to the previous owner the head gaskets has been replaced at around 110K miles; they were replaced with the stronger, upgraded ones also used with the turbo variety of this engine. The head gasket is otherwise, together with the gas filler neck, two archetypical trouble spots for this model. Also, it comes with brand new Subaru original all weather rubber floor mats, and it has had a recent oil and oil-filter change. Asking $3800, or best offer. The buy-it-now price is with them included. ***ADDENDUM***I got the question if the car is leaking oil, and that it looks like it in one of the images; no, it is not leaking oil. The fluid visible under the car in one of the pictures is water; I ran it through a wash before photographing it; you can also see that the tires are a bit wet from the wash.
