Vehicle Detail

1979 Suzuki RM 250. Bike sat for years till I bought it a few years ago. Everything was gone thru and was either replaced or rebuilt. Many new parts including : Plastic fenders & side plates, (tank is original that is in awesome shape) seat cover, chain and sprockets, chain rollers, rear Dunlop tire and both tubes, (front is in good shape) rear wheel bearings, throttle, cables, bars, levers, grips, Uni air filter, fork seals & wipers, fork boots, fork oil ( Belray 10 wt.), Belray gear lube, and last but not least, Boyesen dual stage reeds and the crank was rebuilt and balanced with a brand new rod, pin and bearings. New crank bearings and all new seals and gaskets also. The cylinder was either replaced or re-sleeved before I bought it, it is on the standard size with a Wiseco piston. The frame, pegs, brake arm, ect was all powder coated. The pipe is almost perfect with a new FMF silencer. The air box has a custom made rubber cover with vent holes for mud riding. The rear shocks are a rare factory Suzuki/ KYB piggyback replacement for the 1979/80 RM 250/ 400, Suzuki part # 62100-37400. Shocks still have dampening, not leaking, and work great, but the seals are old and if you ride hard, they will probably blow out.... just sayin'. Bike comes with envelope full of receipts for work and parts. The bike starts and runs fantastic with lots of compression and power !!! One problem.... I bought the bike and it wouldn't stay in second gear. I opened it up and saw one shift fork very worn and some of the dog ears of the gears were chipped and worn. I bought a set of gears and shift forks off E-bay, replaced all the seals, crank bearings, had the crank rebuilt and balanced, replaced the reeds with Boyesen dual stage ones, and it all went together great, much like the past 25-30 have gone. The bike still has problems shifting. On the bench it shifts great, it's when I tighten the plates around the shift barrel behind the clutch is when it starts binding up a little.... luckily it's just behind the clutch and you don't need to split the cases at all. I have so many other projects (1976.5 YZ125X is the next one) that need done and gone out of my shop, this one has to go. My loss, I'm looking to get at least close to what I have into it. I will answer any questions you may have. Their is a case saver bracket that is mounted to the side case around the sprocket, it is very strong and has no effect on taking the cases apart at all.
