The prior owner claimed that it only needed a fuel pump, but the engine will not turn either with the starter or by hand. Ironically, the fuel pump seems to be fine. The carburetor floats have been removed, and a couple of seals and screws seem to be missing. This would be a good basis for an engine swap or a fantastic parts car. The original British registration number was BML 610H. The letters and numbers have unfortunately been peeled off the black plate on the trunklid, but I can just make it out the shadows left behind. Slight surface rust appears at a few body seams and underneath. There is one hole smaller than a quarter toward the front of the left rocker panel, but the rest of the rockers are solid. The floors had some water under the carpets, so there is surface rust and those carpets are doomed, but the metal remains solid. The trunk floor has some surface rust on the left side, but again there is no rust-through. The paint does not appear to be original. The burgundy sides show some crazing (see photo from right front corner). Some areas are flaking off at the leading edge of the hood and around the windshield, rear window, and especially around the trunklid. The right front seat (driver in this case) is dried and cracked in a few spots, but doesn’t look too bad. The left front seat (passenger in this case) looks quite good, but needs reconditioning. The rear leather seat is a goner. I still have it, but the leather is disintegrating and mildewed. The door panels are complete and in decent shape, but the lacquer is flaking off the wood trim. Exterior trim is very, very good. The strips along the sides are all there, and only the back left piece has some slight denting. The bumpers have a few scratches but are straight and present well. The grille is immaculate. The Spirit of Ecstasy was removed while the car is in my driveway, but will be included with the car. Headlight surrounds are beautiful. The driving lights are two different Lucas units; I’m not sure what that’s about. There is a small hole in the left taillight lens, but the right one is intact. Marker lights are all present and intact. All four matching hubcaps with burgundy accents are present and in good condition. Glass is good all around save for a small stone ship at the lower right corner of the windshield. Seamless window frames on the doors are in very good condition. The windshield gasket does appear to leak, and the dashboard has suffered for it. The right front window operates, but very slowly. I did not dig into the other windows to determine whether the issue is with the switches or the regulators. I cannot verify the full operation of the brake and suspension hydraulics. The car rolls freely, but the calipers, accumulator, and other elements are in unknown condition. I had this car towed to my home, and it will need to be towed wherever it goes next. Pickup or shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I am willing to deliver within 500 miles of Washington, DC, for $50 plus $1 per mile. I am also willing to make myself available to any shipping company arranged by the buyer. I am not a dealer or junkyard. I have owned and worked on Citroens and Peugeots for most of my life, and I was always interested in the Silver Shadow for their self-leveling suspension using technology licensed from Citroen. If you would like more photos of specific areas or have any questions about the car, please feel free to contact Karl at 703-231-9888. As indicated in the auction details, a $500 deposit must be made within three days of auction end. The balance must be paid within seven days. I am willing to store the car for up to 30 days after the auction ends so long as payment has been made and we have discussed details.
