Vehicle Detail

Up for sale or best offer is a 1992 Mercedes 300CE. This is the 24V model powered by the DOHC M104 engine with automatic transmission. Car has just over 141k miles and is in good running condition, green exterior/tan interior. It has been parked most of the past year since I got it; I was going to upgrade the engine with a 6 speed manual trans, Megasquirt management, and a turbo, but have run out of time and money to finish... I do have some performance parts sitting around for it, check below or contact me for additional info if you are interested. I'm a huge fan of mid-80's to mid-90's Merc's, and this car would get a B+ in my book based on the following: -This car is in "very good" mechanical/running condition; it has relatively low mileage on the engine and entirety of the vehicle. The original transmission was replaced with a rebuilt trans with 168k core miles by its prior owner about 6k miles ago (work was done by a GTRONIC trans specialist after the original trans suffered an excessive amount of wear to the 3/4 gear synchro and vacuum system damage). Fuel injectors and EHA systems have been serviced separately within the past 10k miles. Receipts for this major work and about half the scheduled maintenance records are intact. Paper receipts for OVP relay dated 4 years ago, distributor 3 years ago, and accumulator 20 months back indicate work likely done by the prior owner, all factory-new Mercedes parts. -The interior is in "very good" condition. Seats are all in 95-100% condition with the exception of the driver's seat, which has wear on the left backrest wing (see photos). Some plastic parts are broken/missing or have broken clips and have been cable tied or fixed in place with adhesive, typical for the age of the car and having been kept outside. The replacement transmission mentioned above had a shorter linkage and the shifter currently sits below the center console surround (see photos). The factory radio has been replaced with a CD player which is a bit temperamental with the power antenna and generally gets poor reception/output since I fired her back up two weeks ago. The driver's power-assisted seatbelt is not currently functioning, but the belt itself and SRS system are in perfect working order. -The exterior and body are in "good" condition. The structure, underbody, drivetrain, and steering are spotless with no rust or major mechanical issues. Suspension coils are solid, shocks are probably at about 75% life left; get noticeably spongy after a couple hours of medium-bumpy driving. Tires probably only have about 3-5k left due to dry storage and overall wear, but wheels and brakes are in good shape. Several small dents were pulled out and sealed/surfaced with Bondo by a body shop in preparation for re-painting, only to have a car back into the driver's side about a week later, leaving a shallow but noticeable dent (see photos). Car comes with a few random tools, a set of four worn 15" wheels (no tires), small spare parts/fasteners/filters assortment, rebuildable smog and water pumps, and the original automatic transmission (partially taken down). Additionally for sale, with priority to the buyer of this vehicle if they want to continue my half-finished project, is the previously mentioned Megasquirt setup, a modified exhaust manifold with Borg Warner/KKK 24 turbo and filter/flexible downpipe, 2.65 differential, and a 6-speed MT from a 2002 C230 (bellhousing mates directly to this engine but input shaft is a little short and flywheel will need to be custom machined, clutch sourced, and linkages fabricated). Additional parts requests, partial trades for 87-99 MB diesels, and questions all welcome... just ask before bidding! Winner must pay $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT VIA PAYPAL WITHIN 48 HOURS of Buy-It-Now or Best Offer being accepted. Car is listed for sale FOR PICKUP IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA WITH BALANCE DUE ON PICKUP PAYABLE BY CASH, BANK CHECK, OR MONEY ORDER. Car is in cross-country road-worthy condition and comes with a fresh oil and filter change, coolant/washer fluid/AC system top-up, and a full tank. I will drive to meet for pickup within 15 miles of ZIP Code 22902 free of charge, including our city Amtrak and Greyhound stations or our local airport. I will also drive it, haul it on a flatbed, or tow it on a trailer anywhere within the state of Virginia at a rate of $0.80 per mile for every mile outside of the original 15 mile radius (at my discretion and dependent on scheduling). PICKUP OR DELIVERY DATE AND LOCATION MUST BE DECIDED ON WITHIN THIS SAME 48 HOUR PERIOD, AND MUST BE WITHIN 10 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSE. If you are unable to arrange pickup in this time frame or need alternate payment arrangements, we will work out a way to pay the balance within 10 days of auction close and I will hold it for a maximum of 30 days after payment is received (refundable in case of further problems). 10/13 Update: Photos added; ABS light now on, likely just needs a sensor or two replaced as the system itself is still functioning. 10/14 Update: The original radio surround trim was misplaced by the prior owner sometime after the Alpine CD player was installed but I can source another easily; the CD player's bezel and flip-open face don't fit the original trim. Regarding low coolant light pictured, the fluid was about 1/2 liter low; it's been topped up and no leaks are visible. I'll take $1500 for the sum of the upgrade parts listed if car is bought at Buy-it-Now; the MS setup is a 3.57 board and cabling only, was intended to regulate timing after swapping in a Bosch VH system or higher impedance Hall sensor for the K-Jetronic (nothing fancy performance wise, mainly just to keep EGT's and economy in check). I've been informed that the input shaft is in fact the correct length, and that the earlier 2.6L W203 6-speed flywheel/clutch setup will suffice for the swap.
