Up for auction is great original condition 1972 Suzuki GT550J Indy. I purchased this bike back in early spring just to have a 72 GT550 as a daily rider. I also restored one of the same bike and put so much into it I wouldn't just get on and ride it anywhere.. So I found this one. I went through the entire bike. Pulled down to frame and engine. The engine was fine and I didn't remove any internal components at all. Here's a list of work done. Fuel tank removed and cleaned out, cleaned with Metal rescue to remove some light rust. Pet cock removed cleaned and rebuilt with all new parts including rubber vacuum diaphragm. Carbs removed and ultrasonic cleaned, parts replaced with Suzuki nos parts. Front head bearings cleaned and repacked. Front fork seals replaced, forks cleaned and new fork oil installed. New chain and rear (40T) sprocket. Center stand and side stand powder coated. Several rubber bushing replaced with Suzuki parts. Basically I went through the whole bike to make it road worthy and safe. Some of the bad are as follows, The left side cover has a crack in it, can be seen in the photos, some rust on frame, chrome in good shape but far from perfect. Front fender has a small dent in it, side next to fork tube. Tires were replaced approx. 1000 miles ago. Battery approx. 1 year old. The bike retains its Suzuki "S" mirrors, The gauge package is near perfect!! Most are yellowed and checked so bad they cant be seen through.. Even has the rubber cushion around tach and speedo.
