Vehicle Detail
1965 Dodge W200 Power Wagon- Old School with exceptional patina and very little rust. Winched out of a field in Farr West UT, this old Dodge has been brought back to life. It has been cleaned up and given some love. Super solid and quite straight, this runner could be used as is, fully restored, or be your basis for a diesel conversion. I have seen a lot of old trucks, and this thing is solid. Engine- 318 Poly, fires right up and runs good, though I haven’t had it on the highway, or driven it too much. Can’t tell you the last time it was rebuilt, if ever. It doesn’t smoke that I’ve seen, and hasn’t overheated in the short time we’ve had it running. The oil is clean and I installed a new canister style oil filter, a new fuel pump and fuel filter, and I was told it had a new clutch was installed not too long ago. All in all a runner, but a good tune up is in order. Driveline- 4-speed manual transmission, Dana 44 rear, and Dana 30 front. I shifted through all the gears, engaged the transfer case in the different modes, locked the hubs, etc. and driven around the shop yard and everything seems in order. Brakes, Steering, Suspension- Manual drum brakes all around. Emergency brake works. Everything seems to work fine. Suspension looks stock with the addition of new rear shocks. Tires are 31” and have good tread. Interior- Pretty much stock though aftermarket seat belts are ready to be replaced. Front seat is fully functional having been repaired and a cover installed. Door panel, knobs, handle etc. are in good condition and appear to be original. Body- There are no data plates on the driver door. The entire truck has been cleaned, including the chassis. The frame and running gear are really solid and were recently coated with Rustoleum red primer and top coated with Rustoleum Industrial satin black. Cab floors are completely solid with the exception of minor rust around the front cab mount bolts, and rockers had some dents and rust. Fenders, hood, footwells, cab corners, and box sides are solid. A new bed was installed using BCX plywood. It’s not the original type, but serves it purpose and looks good. The original patina and paint has been augmented with a few touches, followed by 2 coats of 2-stage satin clear urethane, inside and out. Glass is good except 1 vent window is plexiglass. Other- Lights work, but knob missing. Alt meter work and gas gauge work. Speedo not working. Wiper switch not present but wiper motor and wiper arms are there. Heater controls need attention, but blower works. Horns present, but no button. Summary- The western truck is an attractive example of the Dodge W Series. The classic Power Wagon look is totally cool. This truck has not been restored. It is a solid, running truck, fixed up along the lines of the Rat Rod style. It wouldn’t take much to raise the level a few notches with a little maintenance. As it is you should be able to take this truck off the trailer and drive down Main Street and have a little fun.
