Vehicle Detail

This is a very cool old Suzuki GS1100E. This bike has been sitting since 2009 in a very dry garage and is being sold as a project bike. The gas tank was drained prior to storage, and the carburetors seemed to have some type of oil in them, possibly WD40. The gas tank is exceptionally clean and rust free. I installed a new battery, drained the carbs, lubricated and freed the throttle linkage, added gasoline, and she fired up pretty easily. No smoke after the first start up and she sounded pretty good and settled into an idle. All that is despite the fact that it was leaking gasoline from all four carbs and the petcock. The carburetors and petcock will need cleaning and new gaskets/seals. This bike will undoubtedly need quite a bit of fiddling before it is road ready. The brakes work front and rear, although the front feels a bit soft at first. I'm certain they will need new fluid throughout. The front tire has a leak and won't hold air for more than a few hours. Both tires are Metzlers with good tread, but they have some weather checking and should be replaced prior riding. The start button isn't working and I had to manually cross the starter solenoid to start the bike. I'm not sure if the problem is in the solenoid or the switch. The left side cover is missing and I do not have it. I do have a complete box of extra parts for this bike that include some of the factory take-off bits that have been replaced. I don't believe the neutral light was working, but the tachometer and the gauge lights do work. The bike has electrical tape here and there, and a little more there, but overall it's a very solid and straight machine. The Hannigan fairing is amazing! This definitely has the right look for a Mad Max style bike, but with improved handling and reliability over the old KZ's. The paint on the fairing looks great from 10 feet away, but a close inspection reveals that it's not the best paint job in the world. The bike paint is pretty nice, but worn in places. The fairing does not have the original Plexiglas, but they are available. The Hannigan fairing company is still in business and making these fairings. A replacement, original, Plexiglas screen can be purchased. These fairings are very sought after as they provide great looks, good protection for riders eating away the miles, and they provide considerable storage without the need of other less attractive, and poorly performing accessories. Here's a chance to relive your fantasies as "The Goose", or perhaps "The Toe-Cutter" if you are so inclined. Please do not send "The Toe-Cutter" to pick up the bike after the auction however. I'm including numerous high quality photos and have done my best to accurately describe this motorcycle. It needs love and attention, but is a very cool machine that without too much effort, could be a fabulous road burner. I think the stored state of the bike speaks to the previous owner's love of the motorcycle as does the genuine Suzuki Oil that was in the garage with it. Indicators suggest that this bike was not abused or grossly neglected, but it is a project bike and will require elbow grease before regaining it's former glory. The description may sound negative, but that's only because I've done my best to point out the flaws and negative aspects. A non-refundable Paypal deposit of $300 is due within 12 hours of the auction end unless other arrangements have been made. Payment balance is due within 5 days. Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder. I'm happy to help load the bike and work on logistics with a shipper/delivery company. Alternatively, I can deliver the bike to the Barber Vintage Festival Oct. 8th - 10th, but payment is expected as outlined above. Please feel free to ask questions.
