Vehicle Detail

1972 Ford F250 High Boy- Clean, solid, and straight western truck. This is a nice example of the 67-72 F250. I believe this truck was restored a number of years ago. The last registration I could find was from 2005. I don’t have a long history with the truck, having acquired it in a trade. Engine- The VIN calls out a 360 engine. It has an S Code 4BBl intake manifold, which I believe to be original to 390 engines, so I am not sure if it is a 360 or 390. The only way to tell is by measuring the bore and stroke. I haven’t had it on the highway, or driven it much but I have not seen any smoke, and it does not overheat. I replaced the carb with an Edelbrock 600. The engine fires immediately, and levels out to a nice idle with a little rumble. I am thinking the engine was rebuilt and RV type cam installed. Driveline- 4-speed manual transmission, divorced transfer case, Dana 60 rear, and Dana 44 front. I shifted through all the gears, engaged the transfer case in the different modes, locked the hubs, etc. and have driven it around the yard and everything seems in order. There is some slop in the font driveshaft slip joint. Brakes, Steering, Suspension- Manual drum brakes all around. Emergency brake works. Truck has been converted to power steering. Everything in this area seems to be fine. Suspension looks stock. I replaced the tires and aftermarket rims with stock Ford steel wheels and top of line 265/75/16 BFG T/A KO2’s. Interior- Front seat and dash are near excellent with no rips or tears. Dash pad is good. Paint and finishes showing some nicks, chips, and general wear. Door panels have been cut for speakers. Nice heavy OEM type rubber/vinyl flooring. Body- The data tag on the door is gone so it is hard to say what equipment originally came on the truck. Paint is light blue and white, base coat/clear coat. The truck is a twenty footer as the paint is showing it’s age. The clear coat is peeling on the hood and some bubbling and cracking is evident in a number of spots. The horizontal seam on the bed/quarter panel was caulked during the last paint job and the caulking and paint has cracked and split. Cab mounts ad cab floor are solid with the exception of minor rust spots. The chassis was really clean and was recently coated with chassis black. The box is generally good and coated with epoxy bed liner. The hood support on the driver side needs work, as does the battery tray. A little touch up work brought the paint and finish back to life. The truck will need paint and body work if you want show quality, but it is presentable at cruise night as a “driver” level truck. Chrome and Trim- Front bumper is good, rear bumper is fair, grille is good. Door handles and mirrors are good. Buy-It-Now price includes used XLT side moldings and windshield trim (missing 1 piece) which will be carefully packaged and placed in bed. The trims area available to highest bidder for additional $300. Summary- The western truck is an attractive example of the classic High Boy, however it is not a recently restored show vehicle. It wouldn’t take much to raise the level a few notches. Or, do a little maintenance and enjoy it as is. You should be able to take this truck off the trailer and drive down to Main Street for a little fun. On Sep-21-15 at 10:37:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Regarding the moldings: The moldings pictured (not attached to the truck) will be included in the sale if the price reaches $6,300 or higher. The moldings can be purchased by the high bidder for $300 if the bid is under $6,300.
