Vehicle Detail
1978 MGB Convertible that I purchased in New Mexico and brought to Arizona. I used it as a daily driver when I worked in NM but with a 4 year old, have no use for it anymore. I'll list the pro's and con's:Pro's:Engine was rebuilt right before I bought it. It starts right up, even after sitting for a month here and there. Drives great, shifts smoothly between gears, suspension is solid. Body is fairly dent free and straight. Everything looks to be original, even has the standard Zenith carburetor. I had a new fuel pump installed. Glass is all good. Tires are fairly new, plenty of tread left. I've driven it in town, plenty of power, and I've had it on the highway buzzing at 80mph. Clean title. Con's:There are some gauges and wiring issues that need to be sorted out, by someone smarter than me. The tach works sometimes, the fuel gauge floats around. Speedo and odometer/trip meter work. The original clock still works, ticks away. Hazard lights work, but turn signals don't. I had the alternator rebuilt in ABQ but it's only showing 12.4 amps, and should be 14 or above. This is causing me to keep a trickle charge on it once a week. Paint is pretty chipped, see pics. Interior, while functional, needs work. Dash is cracked. The seats have a slip cover on them, comfortable enough. Needs a new top, the mechanics of the top go up and down just fine. Needs new carpet someday. All in all, this is a functional fun little convertible that needs mainly cosmetic work, mechanically it's pretty solid. Average price on Hagerty is around $8,750.00, but I know restoring a vehicle adds up, so I'm offering this at a fair price($2,800.00 OBO) for someone who wants a convertible 2 seater to buzz around in. There's also an all original 1978 CB400T Honda Hawk II in the background, also being listed on CG and Ebay. $2,200 OBO. Search for it.
