Up for auction is this '49 Packard 4 door sedan that has the original flat-head 'eight' engine with a manual 3 on the tree transmission. The car starts easily and idles smoothly. It does smoke a bit at start up, but has not been run much in the last 10-12 years as it was in storage. Each time I drive it, it seems to smoke less and less. In my opinion it just needs to be driven. The oil level has not gone down since I've owned it. It does have a fresh oil change and carries 40# of oil pressure. The master cylinder has been rebuilt. Some new brake lines were installed where needed. The body of the car is very solid with no visible signs of patchwork or bondo. The rockers are excellent. The glass is mostly all good. The window wing in the back door is cracked, but is intact. The windows and doors work good. The interior in original and could be redone to make it nicer, however, it is all intact. The car has nice wide white-wall tires that are in good shape, along with the original hubcaps and beauty rings. The car is an excellent candidate for restoration, however, can be enjoyed cruisin' just as it is. It is a big, majestic, older cruiser.
