Vehicle Detail

UP FOR SALE IS MY 1988 GL1500 GOLD WING She has been my daily rider for a few years now. Over the years overall she has been an awesome ride. She still has, in my opinion, another 150, 000 miles in her. Standard items, REVERSE, 5 Speed Trans, 6 Cylinder 1500 cc Motor, Cruise Control (button sticky), AM/FM Stereo, Front(upgraded ) and Rear Speakers, Fader Control, Lockable Dash Storage Pocket, Driver and Passenger(Upgraded J&M Controller) Intercom System, Air Adjustable Rear Shock System, On Board Air Compressor, Factory Tool Kit, Cornering Lights that come on when you put the turn signal on, Turn Signals are SELF CANCELING! (No More "Going around the world to the left), Factory Owners Manual. EXTRAS She has: Rear Deck Chrome Rack, Rear Deck Spoiler, Trunk Skirts, Chrome License Cavern, Foam/Chrome Grips, Chrome Front Disc Covers, Front Fender Go Pro Mount, Rear Side Bag Chrome Heel/Kick Guards, Drivers Backrest, Passenger Armrests, "Tall" Windshield, Chrome Windshield Chest Plate with Golden Eagle Badge, Trailer Light Harness Installed (secured and stowed under rear skirt) so if YOU put a trailer hitch on her, your lights are plug and play!) As a Touring ride, this has been a Great Bike. I decided to get the same model when I got my next Wing. The Styling of this model screams Cruiser. The Lines flow Beautifully from Tip to Tail. It's a Machine that Looks Elegant in Her Stance. The newer styling of the Wings, in my opinion, are trying too hard to look like a crotch rocket. These are Big Heavy Touring Bikes that set the standard for what a Touring Machine should do. Go very long distances in Comfort and Grace. If you ride two up, then your passenger will be very happy each time they climb aboard this cruiser. There's a Great Seat with a High Backrest and Armrests, Foot rests, instead of small foot pegs. An Intercom, so you can both communicate without yelling. It's nice. Pictures can Not tell the whole story. Remember she's an 88. So cosmetically She looks pretty damn good for her age. But she does have a few small signs that tell. The front fender, clear coat, started peeling off a couple years ago. There are little dings here and there. The drivers seat had tears. Little ones that started. I took the seat to an aircraft guy that redoes the seats in the airplanes we refurbish, and he told me that those motorcycle seats can not be repaired (sewn/stitched). So I broke out my Gorilla Duct tape and started making my own repairs. Hey, I didn't have an extra hundred bucks for a seat cover! It, my repair, stopped the tears from running, and most importantly, protected the underlying Foam from damage. The Passenger seat is rip free. Mechanically, ride to New York Today. Small stuff like the cruise control button that sticks. Just needs to be cleaned. The Cruise indicator light on the dash comes on, but sometimes it doesn't kick in. I am told by a shop I use in Newport Beach that it's no big deal. He gives the first fifteen minutes for free, to look at a problem. He feels it can be fixed that quick. The radiator reserve tank (located near the handlebar crown, has a "T" fitting on the hose. When I bought the bike 6 or 7 years ago, it was missing. I temp fixed it back then and just haven't gotten around to doing it right. I know, I'm feeling shame... again, no big deal, easy enough to get to. No removing body panels or anything like that. A two inch wide cowling pops on and off and provides access. Hey if you are thinking about a Wing, you can't do better than this deal. I need her gone. I'm unemployed and need the cash. My plans were to keep her and turn her into my Rat Bike. In hard times, Dad's Toys are the First to go. Oh, over the years and many miles on this ride, I have done mileage studies. Here's what you can expect. Highway mileage - At 65 you can expect 42 miles per gallon. at 75 and above it'll go to 32 to 35 per gal. I know! what a difference. It didn't matter if I was towing my trailer or not. This Motor is smooth and powerful. Once again She's been and IS a Great Bike! From riding two up thru a snow storm to over a hundred degrees thru Death Valley. Those special days of Spring to the August Rain storms. If your married and looking to get your Wife out on the ride with you , this is the vehicle. She'll be comfortable and happy. If you are into camping, put a trailer hitch on and tow all your gear with you. You would be amazed at what we take when we camp.Checkout the last photo. This Bike has done it all.
