1978 Triumph Bonneville

1978 Triumph T140E Bonneville. This bike appears to be mostly original. Frame and engine numbers match- T140E BX054xx. Headlight, tail light, lenses, wiring, all Lucas except for front blinkers which are Lucas copies. Tires are Japanese Dunlops. Speedometer has been replaced with the same Smiths, original showed 6,044 miles, but is unknown how miles were put on with a broken speedo. Tank may have had a repaint- don't recall the magenta color. Pin striping is hand done as original. Bike sat idle for 3 years. Changed the oil and put in a new battery- ready to go. Clear Michigan title. Selling this bike for a friend, but I looked it over close as I took pictures. Then fired it up and took it down the road through all the gears. Ran great and shifted smooth. Found the front brake very effective, but a touch on the mushy side. Worked fine, but will need attention at some point. Everything works- lights, horn, blinkers, etc. Motor sounds good and is not a dripper. Gas tank has no dents, no rips in the seat, nor road rash on the exhaust. Chrome rims are very good, as well as fenders- please see pictures. Bike has left hand shift and right hand brake as they all did from 1975 and on. All in all this is a very well kept bike for almost 40 years old. Shows some patina that is to be expected. Bike is located in Bath, MI Zip is 48808.
