FIRST OFF WAGONS ARE VERY HARD TO FIND COMPLETE AND STRAIGHT, OR UNTOUCHED. THIS 59 PARKWOOD IS OVERALL VERY STRAIGHT, AND HAS MANY GREAT + POSITIVES AS IT HAS SURVIVED. THE CAR IS A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR A “CLEAR COAT” STAY “AS IS” PATINA ORIGINAL! THE OWNER WANTED TO DO A BIG BLOCK CONVERSION, AS MANY ARE DOING WITH THESE 59’S. THE 283 WAS SET ASIDE AND STORED. THE 283 ORIGINAL ‘59 ENGINE WAS JUST PLACED BACK IN, AS THE DREAM ENDED THERE. WELL NO 454 OR 502 BIG BLOCK, BUT IT NOW GIVES THE NEW OWNER A POSSIBILITY FOR 100% ORIGINAL RESTORATION, OR A RESTO-MOD PATINA BIG BLOCK CAR? EVERYTHING IS THERE, AUTHENTIC ‘59 ‘CEPT FOR A FUEL PUMP AND A BRAKE MASTER BOOSTER! YOU DON’T NEED TO LOOK FOR ANYTHING! AS ITS ALL THERE. THE CAR HAS HAD SOME TOUCH UPS AND SMALL DING REPAIRS OVER THE MANY YEARS. HAS SAT FOR AROUND 20-30 YEARS BEFORE PULLING THIS OUT OF THE BARN LAST YEAR. LOTS OF CHARACTER WITH MANY FADE SPOTS AND NICE PATINA FADE PAINT. THE CHROME IS ALL ORIGINAL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE RARE REAR CALIFORNIA ONE PIECE BUMPER WAS RE-CHROMED 8 YEARS AGO OR SO. HAS 4 BRAND NEW COKER WIDE WHITES CORRECT 7.50X 14"S BIAS PLY TIRES. $900.00 BEAUTIFUL CHEVROLET FULL WHEEL COVERS, GM STEEL WHEELS REPAINTED IN CORRECT BLUE.THE MOTOR WAS RUNNING IN THE CAR AROUND 5 YEARS AGO WHEN IT WAS REFRESHED, BUT NOT REBUILT. IT RAN FINE, NO SMOKE AND IDLED GOOD. MOTOR IS STILL FREE AND SHOULD FIRE RIGHT UP AGAIN AFTER A TOTAL SERVICE CHECK AND INSPECTION. STILL HAS THE AS NEW PLUGS, POINTS, BUT THE 2 BARREL CARB WILL NOW NEED REBUILT AND ALL THE ORIGINAL WIRES RE-CONNECTED TO MAKE HER A EASY RUNNER AGAIN. WIRING HARNESS IS IN GREAT SHAPE, ONLY ONE REPAIR NEEDED AT THE IGNITION SWITCH, IT NEEDS A FEMALE CONNECTOR THERE AND THE KEY SWITCH. WEATHER STRIPING IS PRETTY GOOD FOR THE YEAR AND HAS SOFTNESS STILL TO IT. SOME IS MISSING BUT MOST ALL STILL THERE. INTERIOR IS RATROD TYPE WITH DUCT-TAPE AND THEN PAINTED RATRODDY. HAS EVERYTHING FOR THE NEW STOCK INTERIOR IF NEEDED, UPPER METAL PANS ARE ALL GREAT. DRIVE TRAIN, DRIVE SHAFT DISCONNECTED FOR ROLLING, NEEDS COMPLETE BRAKES FRONT AND BACK. STEERING SEEMS SOLID AND STILL RESPONSIVE. FRONT SPRINGS ARE ORIGINALS AND ARE SHOT, VERY LOW PROFILE, WITH 1960’S SHOCKS TILL IN PLACE. IT LOOKS NEAT AS IS, A LOW RAKE LOOK, BUT THE RIDE WOULD BE CRAZY! OVERALL GLASS, THE SIDE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW IS CRACKED, A EASY FIX AS IT IS A FLAT GLASS REPAIR AND WILL COME OUT EASY. FRONT WINDSHIELD IS ORIGINAL, BUT HAS ONE LONG CRACK IN THE DRIVER AREA. ALL OTHER GLASS IS GOOD AND ORIGINAL EZ-EYE GLASS BUT THE BIG REAR WINDOWS HAVE SOME FOG IN THE LOWER AREAS. FUNCTION, ALL WINDOWS, VENT WINDOWS, DOORS LATCHES, DOOR LOCKS, DOOR HANDLES, INSIDE AND OUT, ALL OPERATE WITH EASE AND HAVE BEEN OILED. AS MY BUDDY JOHN INFORMED ME, THE CAR HISTORY GOES SOMEWHAT LIKE THIS, IT WAS FROM CALIFORNIA TO WASHINGTON STATE, TO SOUTH DAKOTA, WHERE THE REAR DOOR HINGE FAILED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THUS, THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS OFF THE CAR FOR YEARS AS THE HINGE WAS NEVER REPAIRED, THAT IS THE ONLY REASON FOR THE REAR SEAT LOWER PAN RUST OUTS, AS SNOW ENTERED EVERY YEAR IN THE BACK SEAT AREA! THE REAR SEAT ALSO TOOK A TOLL ON THE LOWER PORTIONS, AND WILL NEED SPRING WORK REPAIR. THERE WAS JUST A COMPLETE SEAT ON EBAY LAST WEEK FOR $225!. NOTE, THE BOTTOM PLATE STRUCTURE FOR THE REAR SEAT SUPPORT WILL NEED REPAIRED AND WELDED WITH FABRICATED BRACE THICKNESS METAL AND THE COSMETIC OVERLAY OF FLAT PAN OVER THAT. THE SEAT LEVERS OR SIDE BARS ARE FREE AND IT WILL FOLD UP AND DOWN WITH SUPPORT. THE CHROME LATCH STILL OPERATES TO KEEP THE SEAT SECURE UPRIGHT. PLEASE SEE PICTURES AS WE WANTED SHOW EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS FOR THE NEW OWNER TO KNOW THE EXTENT OF THE ISSUES NEEDED FOR REPAIRS. THE RUST OUTS ARE IN THE REAR LOWER SEAT PAN AREAS, THEY MAKE THEM NOW PRE-STAMPED A GENERAL EASY FIX. NOTE ALSO SOME RUST IN THE UPPER ROCKER, ONLY COSMETIC, NOT STRUCTURAL, JUST UNDER THE SILVER FACE PLATES, BUT THE ROCKERS ARE MAINLY VERY SOLID. OVERALL, A VERY SOLID WAGON WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE STRONG AND SOLID. THE UPPER WHEEL HOUSES AND THE REAR SPARE TIRE AREA ALONG WITH THE UPPER SHELF AND SIDES ALONG WITH SOLID UPPER DRAIN GUTTERS. TAIL GATE HAS TWO SMALL LOWER SPOTS, REPAIRED BACK A WAYS, BUT IT IS VERY GOOD TAIL GATE OVERALL. THE FRONT CLIP & NOSE IS VERY SOLID, VERY NICE AND HAS NO RUST-OUTS IN THE FRONT FENDERS AND THE HEADLIGHT AREAS. VERY HARD TO FIND THAT IN ANY 59. FRONT FLOORS HAVE A FEW SPOTS BUT ALL SAVABLE, AND SAME WITH THE BODY BRACES. FRAME IS ALL SOLID AND STRAIGHT. NO MAJOR DAMAGE SEEN ANYWHERE JUST DENTS DINGS REPAIRED OVER THE YEARS.
